A semi-automatic firearm is a dynamic type of firearm, it must feed from a magazine, then feed up a ramp, chamber, fire, extract and eject successfully, whilst there may be fewer parts, success in a dynamic firearm is fraught with difficulty and could be problematic vs a revolver. A revolver is a passive firearm. It utilizes a cylinder, so no feeding or ejection takes place, bad scenario: a squib load (no powder) lodges a bullet between the forcing cone cylinder gap, tying up the revolver, by that point requiring another firearm, or revolver. Worst case scenario, the bullet lodges into the barrels rifling, allowing another round to fire, exploding the firearm.

.22mag is excellent for older people or those with arthritis where recoil would prevent the owner from ever practicing or even having fun vs being in pain for practicing. Plus, it's all about placement and with me, I'm far more accurate with a .22mag than any 9mm. So ramp up stress in a difficult situation and in that moment I'd want the easiest firearm that works. Now if I'm in Russias woods and a remote cabin and a bear is coming at me then I'd want a .357 but if I'm 90yo and living in an urban apartment, I'd rather have a .22mag for precision shots, and the least amount of over penetration.
@timrobinson65732 жыл бұрын
Because rim fire cartridges require a more forceful hammer blow to reliably detonate the primer, the revolvers that shoot rimfire cartridges have heavier hammer springs and therefor heavier trigger pulls. This can be an issue for people with arthritis or weak grip strength.

Good safety recommendation. 22 mag is a great round with great penetration, if you need that. .38 can be a great carry gun if you don't want penetration. When would you want that? Depends on ammo, your target and use. I like a slow moving .38, it is more accurate at 50 to 100 yards. Anything inside of that is MINE at less distance, with the right ammo.

If you buy QUALITY rim-fire, they ARE reliable. Don't expect premium function from bulk-pack cheap ammo. Ever seen the inside operation of a rim-fire ammunition factory? There's only 1 million things that could go wrong in how those things are made, and they are cranked out by the millions. I appreciate the performance of bulk 22LR for the price, and for how much stuff has to happen to manufacture that tiny cartridge. The main problem is getting priming compound perfectly distributed in that tiny rim around the case. Sometimes the hammer falls on a pocket on the rim where no compound filled it, or there was a tiny gas bubble. Second strike usually does the trick, or rotate the cartridge slightly and it will fire. Buy premium rim-fire ammo if you are relying on it for self defense. Same philosophy as center-fire, where no one would buy cheap steel cased imported crap and put it in their carry piece. As good as CCI mini-mag may be in bulk, it's not premium. Buy Elley, Lapua, SK, or something along those lines if you want hard core reliability.

This frame produces with 2”, 3”, 4” and 6” long barrells. But in this caliber am not sure... In Russia that revolver suites as civilian non-lethal weapon in 9PA caliber (9x22) charged with spherically rubber bullet.

What about the availability of internal replacement parts if needed? Will Rock Island have them?

Good review, Looks like a great option for small game harvesting and targets. Performance is what counts in my opinion.. . Good tools.

Would expect a 10 capacity to keep up with most 22 autos. The GP 100 has a 10 round cylinder.
