I purchased this 9mm revolver about a month ago, there are a couple of interesting things i have not seen on other revolvers, if you remove the grips there is a cammed screw on the right side of the frame that rests on the trigger spring making it adjustable from about 12 1/2 lbs down to 10 lbs ,4lbs single action not a lot but makes it feel much lighter and smoother. the second thing is the front cylinder stop built onto the ejector rod which moves forward when closing then snaps back and locks the front of the cylinder in place, I also found the moon clips work better than any speed loader I have ever used, I can reload almost as fast as replacing a magazine in my pistols .Great shooter, heavy 33.8 ounces, minimum recoil, adjustable rear sights dead on from factory.

Justin I would also add my two cents here and say MANY of us who own a number of 9mm Semi-auto Pistols also like the ammo interchangeability as well. Furthermore 9mm is (usually) a very common and affordable round available almost anywhere in the World. I hope that RIA will import the .32 Caliber version of this Revolver as well.

I just puchased the RIA AL9 from Classic Firearms for 515.99. I was very surprised that they had it in stock during these "out of stock" times. That the revolver is made in the Czech Republic sealed the deal. I own three Czech Republic guns, the 75B, CZP10 C and the CZ P10S, all excellently made pistols. By the way, I wouldn't use a screwdriver to extract the brass. Metal on metal finish is a no no. Instead use a #2 pencil with the rubber end to push out the spent casings,

Just got one. Did you notice the lockup mechanism? There is an enlarged portion of the ejector rod assembly that moves forward out of a matching recess in the frame to unlock, and then seats back in the recess when the crane is closed. It's hard to see. Extremely innovative, much stronger than any of the S&W versions (ball detent or front pin). I'm very impressed with this revolver. I like this so much I'm going to order some spare parts (springs and screws) if and while they're available. I have been looking around for specs (compared to S&W 66) for holsters.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm not sure if they will offer this gun in a longer barrel or not. The recoil is fairly soft, in part due to the weight of the all-steel construction, and in part because there is no reciprocating mass. Good luck with the search!

also, in a 2-3 inch barrel anyhow, the 9mm outperforms the 357, with less recoil, because the Magnum needs a longer barrel to burn up the powder. IDK about a 4 inch, would love to chrono it and find out. 6 inch? Yeah 357 for sure overtakes the 9mm. Tim over on Military Arms Channel did some nice chrono work demonstrating this. 9mm is designed to burn fast, and so is a lot more efficient in a short barrel. Also 357 percussion and flash out of a 4 inch barrel or less flat ass suck. 9mm is not great without hearing pro, but is miles better than a 357.

But everyone of them just were not reliable. After 5 failures out of 5, I gave up on Charters. My local shop does stock the Charters. But the salesmen I know that work there tell me several have came back very soon after being sold. That is just my experience with them.

Good shooting .. I myself i use Speed Beez reloaders and have for several years now , they have always worked fine .. Moon clips make a nice compact package which are smaller than speed loaders .. You may already know this but right around 1999 Jerry M . set two world records using his revolver in 9mm with full moon clips .. First record was 8 shots under 1 second . 99 second .. The second record he set was 6 shots and reloaded with 6 more in 2.99 seconds using a full moon clip .. No shooter has came along to break those records as of yet ..Then he moved on to fire 8 rounds at 4 targets in like 1.2 something seconds .. I have not thought about a revolver with moon clips , i remember S&W produced revolvers for WWII in .45 acp and the ball ammo was loaded into half moon clips with each moon clip containing 3 rounds... My prime loads for revolvers are .357 mag and i use Speed Beez or HKS loaders .. I use the .357 brass and load my target loads in that case same as my mag loads .. No need to adjust my reloading dies back and forth between .38 spl and .357 brass... To be honest i have looked at the concept of a 9mm revolver using full moon clips ..I find it a great idea to own a 9mm revolver .. I just have not done anything as of yet .. but i find it appealing to own a 8 shot revolver ..

Good gun, good video. Do think blanket stating 357 simply outperforms 9mm is a bit misleading though. IDK in that length barrel the chrono readings, but I know Tim over at MAC ran Snubbie 357, 38 spec and 9mm, and out of the short barrel, the 9mm was king, with 357 needing a longer barrel to burn it's powder fully. So, in a 2-3 inch revolver, at least, I'd take the 9mm for comparable to better ballistics, for less recoil, and a hell of a lot less muzzle flash and blast. MACs numbers for comparison (from his Aug 3 2018 "9mm spanks .38 Special and rivals .357 magnum!" video): 125g American Gunner .357 from a S&W 340pd (1.875 in barrel) 1090 fps for 329 ft/lbs 124g Gold Dot +P 9mm from a Ruger SP101 (2.25 in barrel) 1163 fps for 372 ft/lbs admittedly, 1/3 inch shorter barrel, but I don't think that'll account for the dependency. But would love to see both out of 3 inch and 4 inch barrels.

In the late 1970's, the Israelis wanted to arm the Palestinian Police force with a 9mm handgun, but didn't trust them with an autoloading pistol. Instead, they wanted a simple-to-use a revolver chambered in 9mm (and by "simple-to-use", they meant "no-moon-clips"). They contracted with Smith & Wesson to make it for them. @@emiramick5305 He didnt cheated. He just didnt took the hottest 357 Mag that you can get. And its not very practical to shot the hottest 357 out of a short light snub. This gives your tremendous blast noise and recoil. Even Buffalo Bore offer a low recoil low flash 357 load designed for snubs. They are 125gr and rated with 1106fps out of a S&W 340. So nothing more than 9mm. And with 9mm +p or even +p+ you could have slightly more power. 357 out of a snub doesnt male much sense.

There was a test made with chronograph in military arms channel with snub nose revolvers. The bullet of 9mm had as much energy as 357 magnum in 2.5" or 2.25" barrel. The powder of 357 doesnt have enough time to burn and give bullet velocity in short barrels, so basically you get same ballistics as 9mm with huge recoil while using 357 in snub nosed revolvers. 357 magnum is best in longer barrels atleast 4" for visible difference. Thats why i think for consealed carry 9mm is better option, unless you will carry 4" or 6" barrel revolver.

mmmm . BUT the recoil would be right up there with the 357 magnum round which is why most you can get a 125 grain Buffalo Bore "+P" load in 38 special that pretty much duplicates the 357magnum. and also from Double Tap as well as Corbon. the 38 special round IS more pwerfull than the 9MM. BUT the recoil would be up there on par with the 357 magnum. that, combined with alot of old guns out there is why most loads for the 38 special are more sedated. and that is really how we got the 357 magnum in the first place. a 9MM revolver has alot of use since it does not matter what the bullet profile is like, it will feed all of them some slightly out of spec rounds or handloads will have no problem running through a revolver. and one can load it down or up as well. taking advantage of cheap ammo prices ( when that happens again) and reusing the brass cases to handload. and yet , you still have something to have for self defense. and the moon clips are cheaper than speedloaders and magazines. and yet make reloading very fast. keep in mind there are some 9mm revolvers out there that hold 7 and 8 rounds.

Why not just use 38's plus P in a 357 if you don't like the recoil of the magnum

"Availability and Cost" of 9mm..9mm is more available than other revolver rounds and much cheaper. In the event of world disaster...I am pretty sure you will have a better chance of finding 9mm compared to 38/357/44/32/380.

I would never recommend any one shoot .380 out of a firearm made for 9 mm. I’ve see people get totally confused at the idea of a firearm shooting .357/.38 or .44 mag/.44 spec.

I found 3 things very annoying... you kept repeating the same stuff over and over... you never showed how to unload using the moon clips... and dropping the hammer on an empty chamber after you've fired 6 rounds is either totally stupid, unnecessary and potentially dangerous if you can't count to six and just "snap" discharge an unexpected round... it's a bad habit...✌️

it is always a big plus to have a semi automatic and revolver the same if you reload your ammunition that’s giant plus. having been a reloader for over 41 years and much testing, learning this old dog can be taught new tricks. my latest journey is reloaded primers. and if you reload I’ll tell you what I do. some 9 mm pistols can be reloaded with 38 /357-358-355-356 dia bullets. in my cz 52 - 9 mm, Taurus c2 s, and my tough as nails hi point 9 mm , all these work flawlessly in each gun. so if you’re running low on9 mm try these bullets. load a magazine full, hand cycle each to see if it works properly. go shoot it rapid fire. if everything flawlessly , ya, your good to go . if you don’t reload and hurting for ammunition most reloader can help you out so . if you reload wouldn’t you want at least your immediate neighbors to help watch your back and him your back ? as hard as ammunition of any kind is to get and price gouged. at a local gun shop yesterday I bought a rock island mod 200 -38 special out the door 250 dollars with tax and well pleased with function ,accurate enough to shoot at a hood rat 50-60 yards. i noticed a sign 50.00 dollars for a50 round box of 380 acp jhp ammo. cheep price gouged ammunition. he ask if I needed ammunition for to feed the beast I bought. I said no I got plenty. I am blessed but many are not. I will help my neighbors, a good investment. nana and papa aka the hunter wishing you well.
