The year : 1982 I was 5 years old. I had seizures as a child. They had me on some kind of medication that was liquid. So my dad mixed it with 7up or Ginger ale (still a favorite 💙) So every morning my dad played this song and I would chug the soda and meds during the fiddle part. Alabama was & and still are my all time favorite band of country music. I went to Myrtle Beach and went to the bar they started at a few years ago Randy still sounds amazing for his age. Teddy is still amazing as well. The young lady playing fiddle did a fine job too. Her name would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Thank you Alabama for providing me a lifetime of memories. Much love from Virginia. 💙

I believe Randy Owens is also sick, if I remember correctly I read somewhere he's has MS, possibly I heard it from a friend of mine that went to school with Randy and is friends with his family, I don't recall seeing or hearing any kind of statement from his publicist, so I'm not 100 % positive of his type of illness

I know the feeling. It also makes me sad seeing many of my favorite artists from the 80s and 90s getting older. Even worse is I don't see anyone currently that can fill their shoes, at least not on the mainstream side of country. Zach Top is the only one that comes close, but I'm not sure if he's considered mainstream.

It’s been a rough week. I’m 47 and dealing with avascular necrosis of both femoral heads. It’s caused me some major issues in my lower legs with infections. I need to heal sores before they do bone surgery. The cause was just discovered. A form of leukemia that affects bone marrow, but only in hips and long bones. I’m suffering and it’s made me recognize my own mortality. My hero’s and my favorite musicians are all in the last parts of thier lives. So many memories. I can’t stop thinking about the old days and how wonderful I felt. It’s been rough. Thank you Alabama. Your music made life bearable in hard times.

Alabama used to come to the Greenville Memorial Auditorium in Greenville SC every year when I was younger and I am pretty sure my mom and I went to see them each time. My Uncle Raymond knew the drummer - Mark Herndon - from college and we loved seeing him play each time. And my grandmother loved Mountain Music, it was her favorite. I wish I could have seen them play at the Bowery in Myrtle Beach, but I guess my memories from the early 80's will have to do.

I've been an Alabama fan since the late 1970's. The only music I ever bought was Alabama's music and the Eagles. I loved blasting Alabama on my 8 track tape in my 1966 Mustang. Go forward to 1987 or so, and I'm now going to dance clubs with buddies of mine. In my area there were no real country music clubs/bars at thar time. I remember being in the club I regularly attended one night and was listening the mindless pop/dance stuff and was focused more on dancing with the ladies than the music that was playing. Suddenly, the opening notes of Mountain Music hit my ears...I sang that song as loud as I could while folks around me thought I was absolutely nuts. I was back in my Mustang singing with Alabama. I tipped the DJ really well, and he made sure to play it for me every time I was there. I learned to like msny other bands over the years, but nothing beats an Alabama or an Eagles song.

As a child growing up in the *Owen family (My grandfather was *Albert Lee Owen and he is the older brother of Gladstone) and during our visits to Fort Payne from Huntsville, my grandmother Jessie would play the piano while my father (Charles Albert), his brother (Sanford Rudolph), and sister (Imogene) would sing gospels songs. That is why this song is one of my favorites as it reminds me of those days in the sixties in Fort Payne. They are all gone now. While I have never met Randy, his voice is as good today (CMT) as it was when they started way back when. Both his sister (Reba Patterson) and his mother sang at the church service when my grandfather passed away in the early 80's. You could not have met two nicer people. Mrs. Owen has too since passed away but she was a kind soul.
