Been hunting tennessee an I think the turkey population has went down alot I only hear like 6 or 7 an sometimes I hear none in most places I'm not sure what to do don't have much options honestly

I don't know if you have ever read the book by Tom Kelly, called "The Tenth Legion ". about the opener of AL turkey season, but you are a part of it !! You would enjoy all his books... Heck...our season don't open here in PA till beginning of May!! Rediculas. By then all the underbrush is up and there about done goblin. Nice point about littering too. It's lighter after you drink or eat.... take it with you!!😃😃😃

Killed 2 birds opening weekend here in TN, killed my biggest bird on Easter Sunday with a .410. He had a 9 1/2in beard, 1 1/2in spurs and weighed 16-17lbs!!!

@@adamlaroche7859 I live in Littleton. I have been here since 2016. I have a friend who lets me hunt his 200 acre non-working farm. I have gotten them the past three years. My daughter has gotten two. I am going to be taking her for a grand slam next year to celebrate her graduating high school. I use a Remington 870 SPS with truglo red dot and an Indian Creek choke tube. I am doing my pattern test today. I have been using 3" #5/6 Winchester Longbeard XR with great success. But I have 4 boxes of TSS to test against the XR. 3.5" #7 & #9 and 3" #7 & #9. Shooting distance 30, 50 & 70 yards. Should be eye opening!

So funny, i just field tested my hatfield sds 12 gauge semi yesterday. 30 , 50 and 75 yrds. Had ro aim a little high for that long range shots... I live in Laconia but hunt all over.

@@adamlaroche7859 the 3.5" #9 at 70 yrds was an absolute shock. If I had the ambition to burn money, I would try it at100 yrds. It's a darn good pattern still at 70!

@Adam Rich i hear you there...i look for ammo everywhere. So hard to find at a reasonable price. Only need 1 opening day hopefully. I hunt in the region that I can take my fallbird in the spring.. but I like to have the opportunity to bow hunt for one in the fall

Yessir, Ah likes to shoot me some turkeys. Whenst Ah'm a-shooting them ah likes to aim a little lower then ah was taut to by mah Pappy's brother, Uncle Augustus. Whilst he prefers shooting em on the beak, causing they heads to spin, and snapping they're necks, Ah always aims to the south preferring a groin strike, with a goal of hitting them on the dink, severing the urethra, causing em to bleed out and pass on to Gloryland. This here method is effective in the extreme, and has largely bin adopted by most of the folks in our holler. Augustus still has him a group of old timers that likes to beak shoot them turkeys., but the new ways is a-taking over, and urethra shootin is a-comin into vogue. Why, ah done sliced ones dink lengthwise with a broadhead on last Tuesday. It appeared to cause him a great deal of discomfort but he bled out quick as a whistle. Ah spect he'll be on the menu this a-coming Sattiday.
