What about Decatur, AL? It’s about thirty minutes away from Huntsville and you get roughly a train every thirty minutes, sometimes more or less. Plus, you get both CSX and NS on one track. Myself and a friend of mine goes out there every couple weeks and railfan and we usually catch about ten trains.

Have barely been there. I hope to go while I’m back in Huntsville before having to go back to Altoona. That area is more CSX from what I know but I’ll see for myself in a week or two

Yeah, it is more CSX, but all the NS traffic in Huntsville has to come through Decatur anyway so you still get all the NS traffic with all of the CSX traffic added on. CSX is just more active in this area, which is why there’s more of that.
