We've all had a horrible boss in our lives, normally you can just quit your job and escape them. But what if that boss followed you into DEATH? For the poor sods who worked in Alabama's notorious Sloss Furnace that's exactly what happened when the evil shift master James 'Scum' Wormwood mysteriously died and then continued to haunt the deadly factory!

I live near Sloss, it is quite haunted, but most of Birmingham is. It is a city buit on the blood and the pain of the poor laborers who toiled in the mines, and the furnaces that were all over the county. The cholera epidemic in the early days would have killed the city if not for the efforts of a brothel madam named Louise Wooster. Then the Hawes horror and subsequent riots, years of Jim Crow racism, lynching, bombings, murders, suicides and accidents. So many lost souls crying out for peace.

It's so funny to me to think that the reason every skeptic can blame the wind for ghost sounds is because the ghosts are shy and have to work themselves up to say something and, even then, it comes out as a whisper. And every time a ghost gets dismissed as "the wind," it just destroys their confidence even more, lol. A vicious cycle. Poor shy ghosts. Also, don't sell the Tulip staircase ghost evidence short. I actually thought it was pretty good.

Birmingham native here! Loved Sloss Furnaces as all the edgy emo kids in BHAM does and y’all did a great job! If y’all can manage it, please come visit. It’s an incredible destination and there’s a group of steel artists that still work at Sloss. I and plenty of friends have had some pretty interesting experiences, no physical evidence as of yet, but stuff to make you really go ‘hmmm…’. Lots of outdoors stuff to do that doesn’t have ghosts, but there’s supposedly a goat man legend in Oak Mountain State Park 🤓

Went to Sloss once for Halloween, saw a guy eat a roach after saying it was his pet, didn't see any ghosts, and the haunted house section was a solid 4/10 for scary but got bumped up to a 8/10 for making a girl i didn't know hold onto me, she was terrified lol

Interesting fact. Sloss is kept in good enough shape that it can be fired up in the case another event like a world war. The "rust color" is actually a textured paint. The furnace was only shut down because the ban on "pig iron" and the site was too small to absorb the cost of importing low sulfur iron from outside the state. For those out side the USA. Alabama is about 3/4 the size of Germany. And the closest usable iron is over a thousand miles away.

Slag: (noun) the impurities and waste matter separated from metal during the process of refining raw ore. If any of y'all are ever near Birmingham the Sloss Furnace is definitely worth a visit. You can take a tour or wander on your own, and the Halloween events are legendary. Like Rory said it's like a giant CoD map, very cool.

@@DystOptimistmy dad works for the Greater Birmingham CVB and works with the city on what’s going on. They’ve been trying to shut down Fright Furnace for a long, long time (took up the entire facility and things like weddings and concerts couldn’t happen; BHAM also wants to distance themselves from spooky/ghost stuff). The lockdowns of 2020 gave the city a huge leg up and were able to successfully cut it out completely. I hate that it’s gone, I never went because I’m a big ole baby, but I have friends who worked with FF and know how hard they worked. I think most of the folks went to Atrox or Nightmare 3008.

23:38 Listen up you Slags, LOL. OK, Alabama resident here: Slag HAS NO OFFENSIVE connotation in America whatsoever. However, since we're so industrial-oriented in Birmingham, we are incredibly literal in our nicknaming. So, Wormwood was nicknamed Slag because of its literal meaning: Slag, or Dross is the unusable material that burns off of iron when you forge it into steel. Ergo, Wormwood was seen as someone who was trash. Thank you for the video! You should plan a trip to come see us! There's also the Redmont Hotel that is Haunted by the ghost of Hank Williams!

41:55 Slots Fright Furnace and Furnace Fest (the metal show) are actually independent of each other. The way the booking worked for Fright Furnace, the haunt had to be set up by mid October and Furnace Fest takes place the first week of October. There may have been "rehersals" at the time, but I doubt it. The haunt was pretty improv as far as the production was concerned, so there may have been 1 or 2 people walking around scouting locations. They weren't SUPPOSED TO but many of the performers would go up on the scaffolding without telling anyone. One of the reasons the Haunt closed was due to this kind of rule breaking and the historical society butting heads with them.

Yes, it is haunted; and we'll never know how many people died there. I've been there once. Incredible historic site, so go for it! If you're not sensitive, you'll probably come out fine. 😬 History tidbit (if you like): The place is huge, and by World War I, Sloss-Sheffield (the furnace, mines, et.al) was among the largest producers of pig iron in the world. Less than a mile away from Sloss was "The Heaviest Corner on Earth", with 4 of the tallest buildings in the South in 1911. Birmingham, "The Magic City", was named for Birmingham England, an earlier industrial powerhouse that also spurred a major metropolis. And you now have more info than you need.🤓

As far as the video evidence goes; even if there was nobody around when dude was recording the video, it could be argued that a plane flew over the site outside and momentarily caused a shadow which was inturn reflected into the light cast onto the bars on the furnace doors and wall.

What's the mechanism that makes hauntings happen at night instead of mid-afternoon?
@atarayael
@atarayael Ай бұрын
@@YNVNEone There is a mechanism for that! It has to do with solar radiation. Just like in a wind tunnel, the sun hits on one side (daytime), goes around the earth, doubles back on itself and then in a whirl, pulls away (night time). The sun gives extra “power” to the dark side of the planet and apparently that’s supposed to be what “they” use to manifest or do what they’re gonna do.

Lol 30 min into the show he's talking about a backpack full of weapons that are (at least in the murder mitten they are) potentially and very likely more illegal to have in your possession than carrying a concealed pistol without a concealed carry license (you may want to hire your own attorney, but that charge is totally a slap on the wrist as long as the gun isn't a throwaway you weren't in possession of any firearm registered or not during the commission of a felony) They are definitely more than openly carrying any firearm in most situations.
