I feel like bama has better DBs right now. The time invested in him does suck but he wasn’t very good at coverage and kind of hot headed but a lot of players were this year. I’m not too worried about it. Bamas getting 2 DBs out of this recruiting class that I think are going to be pretty good if they don’t transfer out and they did get other younger players some decent experience this year with some of the injuries on the defensive side. The players that have left are very replaceable like Justice Haynes for instance. Don’t get me wrong he’s good but Richard Young showed a lot this year with the little time he was given. I’m more worried about the WRs than any of the others that have transferred.

What really blows my mind is that programs like Ole Miss-don’t get me wrong, I love Lane Kiffin-consistently go 9-3 or 10-2 and rarely experience significant player departures. Yet, we have a first-year head coach in the SEC who also goes 9-3 (missing the playoffs by just one spot), and there's a mass exodus of players. It’s just so strange! For a starter to leave Alabama ( which is one of the top 5 teams that player’s usually want to play for) is crazy IMO.

It sucks but here’s the thing EVERY SINGLE SCHOOL has had a “major starter” leave in the transfer portal since NIL began. It’s a part of it, this isn’t a bama problem. Look at LSU, they lost starting WRs and defensive players, Georgia is in the CFP and they have kids leaving during the season. As a bama fan I ain’t sweating, we just signed the #2 class and we’ll grab kids out the portal when the opportunity comes…just the way it is

He’s much more of a safety than a corner but played that Husky position which is like a nickel/safety in Bama’s defense. Rumor is he’s gonna transfer closer to home due to family issues. We really needed Smith this past season as we had tons of first year guys in the secondary but I think we’ll be just fine back there moving forward. We’ve got the #2 safety in this year’s recruiting class coming in plus several guys who are gonna be in year 2 next season that are gonna be good.
