Prior to the coronavirus shutdowns I had a great gig, I was an employed homeless guy. I work for the airlines, so whenever I was working I had layover hotels for free, and whenever I was off work I would travel (on the cheap, camping or hostels). It was working out great, but now I'm out of work and borders are closed. Solution? Buy a Yamaha bolt and road trip around the country, hopefully to Alaska. I have about 2 months until I am required to return to work (unless that gets pushed back further), and as of right now the Canadian border is still closed. So time and covid restrictions are going to be obstacles, but on the upside I have a fully registered vehicle and a motorcycle license, which in the 10 years I have been riding a bike is a first.

I have the same bike it’s a beast. I’d recommend you get a highway bar if you don’t have forward controls. You can rest your feet on them to stretch out a bit on those longer rides.

I've fallen in love with her for sure. That's the one upgrade I've been thinking about. I've never had highway bars but I've always wanted some. I'm about to film an update on how well she has performed, but it's hard to edit video while camping lol

942 cc engine. More than enough power for daily riding. I have the regular cruiser version of this bike, the v star 950. Yamaha engines are bullet proof, the most reliable motorcycle engines in the world! That’s why they have been #1 for many years. I recommend to do Ivan’s ecu tune for the bolt, it will completely change the bike!

@@globalvagrant1392 My situation is weird. I'm 73, a widower, and want a bike for long distance touring. Was looking at maxi-scooters, but the over 350cc don't seem to be imported any longer to USA. Piaggio BV350 has storage and comfort advantages but considering bigger led me the Bolt; doesn't seem like too much bike for me. And I found some interesting videos of packing up a Bolt and touring. Still deciding however -- maybe spring time. (My last ride was a '67 FLH).

That is a bit of a delimma... the bolt isn't too big really but they do come naked. You'd have to get the saddlebags and stuff aftermarket. Idk though maybe the dealer could get it all hooked up.

Hopefully you didn’t buy the passenger seat from the OEM, it is actually the most expensive. There is one that match your seat at a lower price.
