Nice to finally see it, glad it was cut out. There's too much talking, "Why Me" should've been in the movie
@aladdinarchives4 жыл бұрын
what ok I agree, it's more "talking as music plays" than actual singing. I love "Why Me" but I feel like the reprise they went with fit best for this scene. I would've loved to see "Why Me" earlier in the film though, Andreas Déjà suggested in an interview that it could've been sung while Jafar was putting on his old man disguise and I think that would've made for a nice scene
@TrollMalefico19843 жыл бұрын
I've listened to all the versions Jafar has for his "conquer", I must say I really liked "Why me?" until I heard this one. Since it's unfinished it sounds worse, but with the right instrumental part and a polish on the vocals it could bomb every other unreleased song and even the original release. Imho.

The scene wasn’t cut, but the removing this song was the right call. The Prince Ali reprise is waaay better, and this song is literally just the same scene but with an itty, bitty bit of extra singing… and Iago suggesting where to send the tower.

Adding a song that is "about" Jafar wouldn't make too much sense this late in the movie. Whereas reprising Prince Ali makes alot of sense, given that this is the moment that is about Aladdin's reversal of fortune.

Why Me > this > Humiliate the Boy imo. Idk where to rank Prince Ali Reprise but I think it works overall even if Jafar didn’t get a dedicated song to himself. It is interesting that this is the closet to the final movie.

If I have to do a Top 3 of Jafar’s deleted songs: 1. *Why Me?* Glad that it’s in Aladdin musicals as Jonathan Freeman played Jafar on stage until his final performance in 2022 2. *My Finest Hour* it explains his desire to feel evil and powerful for making a threatening villain 3. *Humilate The Boy* No comment, glad that it wasn’t included in the Final Cut which would’ve made Jafar silly and a villain parody. Came here after I met Paolo Domingo as the French voice of Aladdin from the 90s at a convention this year in 2024 but he only voiced Aladdin in the first animated movie, The Return Of Jafar and Kingdom Hearts 2 on PlayStation 2. 🇫🇷

This sucks. Half of the song is speaking and the song itself has a medicore melody in addition to lyrics that don't match the pace of the song. "Why me" is much better.
@TrollMalefico1984 Жыл бұрын
It doesn't have to be entirely sung to be good. We have too much singing in Disney's films anyway.
@bigfanofsb653 Жыл бұрын
@TrollMalefico1984 But the talking moments aren't naturally inserted. They felt jammed into the middle of the verses, making the song have almost no flow. Also, you do realize you're watching a musical right. They are going to sing a lot.
