​@@arthur5238I think when the sandstorm is up, any rock type mon receives a 1.5 boost in their sp defense and the assault vest most likely helped it out to get 700. I may be wrong on this since I am also quite new to competitive pokemon.

​@@arthur5238 in sandstorm, rock types don't take chip dmg and get a 1.5 sp.defense boost. Pair that with Assault best boosting the STAT by 50%, combine them both and you get 2.25x special defense, rather than just double.
