Thank you, I'm eager to try the new feature of V11 in the future for V carve inlay

Much nicer than the one before, and I'm on the wooden inlay side 😊

Thank you, making something nicer than the ugly plastic box we had was not really a big achievement, but yes this is way nicer

Good to see you again. I'm partial to the wood inlay.

Thank you. You see even Renée and I can't agree, so it's hard to figure out what's look best I will take some time before my next episode😒I don't have any in bank and we're going to the cottage for 3 weeks, We've been working on a big project and I only started editing it even if it's not finished. So hopefully I will be able to go back to my usual schedule in a month or so...

Wait... but you have a screw advance box joint jig! I'm sure I remember that! 😅 Glad to see you enjoyed the eclipse at least a little! That was an amazing day.
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker4 ай бұрын
Yes I do. I wish I could have used it, it's working way better than this method... But the width of the finger joints were bigger than the maximum of the jig. This is the kind of thing that you say, that you will never have to go bigger, up until one day it's not true....

What an upgrade 👍 I like both logos, but learning how to do that inlay work on my CNC is something I'm definitely interested in, so that's my pick 😊

Knowing how to make this kind of inlay is nice, I haven't used the new feature of the Vectric software, but it's also nice to know how to do it the old fashion way

Beautiful recycling bin Alain ! I would need a much larger one for a weeks worth. Sadly, today, everything comes in plastic! When I was growing up in the 1940’s, there were no plastics; everything came in glass, boxes and cans. How did we exist without plastics and paper towels?
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker3 ай бұрын
Thank you, Yes everything is in plastic these days and has a short expiration date unfortunately. I'm pretty sure my new recycling bin will last us up until we will be in a small box. I didn't grow up in the 40' but I always say to our daughter, with all the security stuff for kids nowadays, that was no existant when I was a kid and even when she was a kid, the human race should be extinct right now if we believe everything to the company that sell those things.

Wow, 2 weeks for a tube of hide glue? Didn't Lee Valley have any in stock?
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker4 ай бұрын
LOL yes they do, I would have received it in 2 days instead of 2 weeks. But I ordered it from a local hardware store and the new guy messed up the order, after a week he realized that none of his special order had arrive, so he reordered the glue and in all this took 2 weeks. Lucky for me that I had something else to do😉

Nice. I love the repurposing of wood and the inlay. A suggestion for consideration. I see a rocking motion when you open the door. It appears that the box can get too close to the island and rubs when opening the lid. What if you were to add a spacer on the bottom back side so that the bin stays away just far enough, so that the when opening the lid, it doesn't rub? Something that wouldn't be seen like a 12mm x 12mm wood "keystock"

Thank you, and you're right I also noticed that and I should put something behind, the hinge scratched my island😒

Why didn't you use veneer to make this pattern? I made same thing with 120 dovetails by a handsaw and a chisel. I used the dovetails for a bottom too.
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker3 ай бұрын
I wanted to try this technique of wood inlays. Hand cut dovetails are so peaceful to make, I love making them, but I wanted finger joints for this box

Neat project. I prefer the wood inlay logo. It is a little more subtle, and the way that the grain matches, at first glance it almost looks like it is the same wood with the logo somehow stained.
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker4 ай бұрын
Thank you, I also like the sapele inlay it's like the oak has another colour suddenly because the wood grain is still there. But Renée prefer the darker look of the epoxy, since I did both types of inlay we're both happy 😁
