I don't think we have ever seen your whole family, all 3 generations, in one video before. Cool shot of the grouse and bear, too. Looks like those clearcuts are growing back. It might improve the hunting near the chalet.

Thank you, it was nice to be all there, last time both the kids were with us at the cottage was 20 years ago... It's growing back, it's been 10 years this summer that they clear cut everything behind the cottage. I can see more grouses and tracks of moose, deer, bear and wolf than 5 years ago. So much so that this year I bought a bear mace can, just in case

That was a huge project. Well done. And much better that it was a family affair. They will have such a strong attachment to that place and you. That is much more important.

Thank you. yes it was a big job, opening the floor was like opening a can of worms, I had no clue how bad it would be. But with the help of all my family we ended up with a super nice floor

Yes it was fun having all the family at the cottage, it has been decades since this happened. At 15 our daughter thought it was boring over there, now at 35 she's find the piece more enjoyable, but let's say she didn't had a lot of time to enjoy herself on this stay.....

I had a 2” receiver on front of my pickup for a removal winch but it could have been also used for backing in trailers if needed
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker5 ай бұрын
I also had a hitch installed in front of one of my pickup once. But after hitting a hole on the dirt road going to the cottage, the hitch hit a rock or something inside the hole, got torn off of the frame and obviously slashed one back tire.... I didn't replaced it and never got one installed again... This road is not the best thing that a pickup see in it's life..

Hi Alain! That was an incredible undertaking with great result. I loved the dog's POV and the black bear. But the best part that warms the heart is your family helping ❤ Renee is stellar as always. Best regards from Croatia 😊

Thank you Andrea, having all my family with us over there was a blast. Last time we were all of us there at the same time Chantal was 15, 20 years ago... I also had fun filming our new rat and all those POV shots, he's so easy, I don't understand he has none of the chihuahua's bad behaviour and he's a very nice sample. His worst attribute is it's minuscule size, but at least no barking, Renée never herd him bark in 6 months, I did when a golden jumped on him and bite him, he turned around barked and jumped on the golden throat 😂😂😂It was a funny moment I just picked him um and continued my walk. But for this job we were happy that we had help, just Renée and I, this wouldn't had been so easy.

That noise when you're cutting out plywood and removing tiles 😂 Sounds like the tiles are in a cement mixer!

The noise and dust were unbearable, we're so happy that this is over, the next renovation will be much easier, at least it's what we hope.....

Thank you. It was a big projet indeed, we were super happy that both kids offered to help us. As for the rest of our improvement, we will do that later in the year, at least all the wood is up there, this is the most important thing, I don't want to bring the trailer too often, backing up that distance is not really my kind of fun

Speaking of woodpeckers, that fellow right at the end, hammering on the metal roof, made me laugh. Nice looking finish.
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker5 ай бұрын
It was so funny, we think he was marking his territory, It was hitting the metal roof several times a day when we were making noise and didn't came back when we stopped

@@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker Yes, that makes sense. I had read they do that by finding something loud to bash their beaks on. What a painful life :)

I don't think they're the smartest bird, but at least they're not lazy and have to work much harder than just picking up earth worms... After we nailed down the floor we made less and less noise and it's appearance became less and less up until we never saw it anymore. But I have to admit it was nice hearing this and also seing it

That looked like a really frustrating job, so much stuff in the way, plus having to build around everyone living in there! End result looks much cleaner and nicer though. But I hope hope hope Alain, that the next video is of you cleaning up the birds nest of wiring and plumbling at 16:23!! 🤯🤯😱😆

It was not easy, the bed was in a different place each night, we had to clean everything even all the dishes and wash the walls, we still have one section to clean, but the wires are still a mess 😒😒😒😒

LOL! Those ruffed grouse? In MB nicknames include prairie chicken, spruce chicken, road chicken. Sadly having a reputation as the dumbest bird in the forest. 🤭😁😏. And I think that woodpecker is in love with your 🔨.
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker5 ай бұрын
Yes they're not the smartest bird around, here we just call them chicken. I even had to swirl on my way back to avoir squishing one, and still it didn't moved.... This woodpecker was making its territory, at least it's what we think. it started hitting the metal roof when we started making noise with the air nailer, and gradually stopped coming after we stopped making noise

I enjoy the videos about your cottage most of all. Do the biting flies get bad in that area?
@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker5 ай бұрын
Thank you. they were no black flies nor mosquitoes up until the first rain we got 3 days after our arrival, then it was bad, but we got bitten mostly by mosquitoes, but black flies and deer flies were happy to take a bite also, but I've seen worst.

@LgosseuxDbois-TheWoodpecker5 ай бұрын
Not almost.... it actually died on me. We had to nail the last dozen nail by hand. I have to check but It seems like the O-ring seal is broken, I guess it was leaking but at one point it just snap. Lucky that when I made the woodshed it was working better than that, I had thousands of nails to put in, at least for that only about one hounded
