Alakazam Weezing deck is a perfect mix in Pokemon Pocket

I love this deck, but I absolutely hate the double energy system. I had a match where I had ELEVEN consecutive dark energies. Bro wth. They need to make that after 3 of the same, the next one will be the other or something. It’s too punishing sometimes

I think making energy generation alternate types would make energy fixing too consistent. The metagame would turn into "good stuff" decks, since you could jam the best Pokemon together from any type with little penalty. I do think that they should (and hopefully will) introduce trainer cards and Pokemon abilities that help with color fixing. Ideally something that doesn't double as busted ramp like Misty does.

@@dasoupsoupthats too unfair in terms of whoever can get energy on their cards first get advantage depending on the pokemon , and a good amount of stage2 pokemon only need 1-2of their respective energy with there rest needed being any other energy

Agreed, it's cancer that they made it a 50/50 every time because the real game isn't like that (you have a finite amount of cards so you cant just keep drawing the same energy over and over)

I've been playing this deck for a while. It's really solid when you draw well, which is why I put in Meowth instead of Farfetch'd. Koga Weezing Wall is such a good body of cards.

Would you ever consider meowth over Far just to dig more to find your key pieces? Or do you like the pressure far can put on for you? Also was possibly thinking kanga just to help wall you up longer to build your back line but wasn’t as sure about that as meowth.

Hey Jeff, awesome deck as always! Apologies if you've already explained this, but I was wondering what is the reason to choose Farfetch'd over Kangaskan or the other way around when building a deck.

Farfetchd allows for early pressure with a 1 energy for 40 damage, albeit with a low hp pool that can get ko'd easily with some ex pokemon Kanghaskhan has 100 hp with a coin flip attack that has a 0-60 range. Usually used as a easy tank or can potentially slightly more damage than Farfetchd with 1 energy sometimes. Depends on what you need or favor more in terms of playstyle 👍

Cheap retreat cost. You can throw it early to preassure, or to finish off some out of reach opponent, and either take the KO, or retreat with a wounded bird to move Alakazam/Weezing out. Take into account that this deck already packs Weezing+koga, which is a very tanky tool, so if you were looking for some extra basics to void accidents (as Jeff tends to prefer), you would go for cheap and fast rather than tanky and slow, which weezing already is.

Duck is better against Mewtwo/Char for more consistent damage. Kanga is better against Pikachu because it survives a hit for 90.

I think the Arbok Shell is the best known configuration, but I also feel like there hasn't been a lot of optimization around the card in general yet.

If you want to hedge Pikachu extra that is fine. Makes you worse against Mewtwo though. Which might be fine considering Weezing is so good there.

I've got 5 Abras, and 6 Alakazams (2 of which are full art) and not a single Kadabra yet, and Alakazam was a major reason I wanted to start with Charizard packs. I so hope trading is useful and comes soon cause just gaining cards off of chance alone is irritating. I even have 2 Koffings and a Weezing exclusively from Wonder picks.

My favourite deck, let's go! I personally like to use X Speed instead in the Farfetch'd/Kanga slot to have higher chances of drawing Abra/Koffing from PokèBall and have an out to fix those hand states in which I have to start Abra in the active spot without losing energy tempo.

Melmetal needs more support buts it's pretty good against mewtwo most of the time since it takes a while even for those decks to build up the energy. Everything dies to Charizard once its set up though, so not really much of an argument for melmetal being mediocre.

I think if Melmetal could be built to be reasonable into Mewtwo it would be seeing regular play. In my experience Mewtwo runs you over consistently before you get setup with Melmetal.

Yeah by far the most fun deck I've used even if it would be considered like a tier 2 at best. I've beaten both mewtwo ex and Charizard ex decks several times with it, which he mentioned being counters but those decks get slowed down a lot by all the stall cards.

Hopefully they change the double energy system to every other turn once ranked comes out to make deck building more versitle

I dont know why people keep suggesting this. That change would make multi-color decks far too consistent and powerful. All you would see afterwards are Good Stuff decks because there would no downside or risk to playing multi-color decks anymore. Id rather they release some cards/trainers that can help a little bit with it but thats as far as they should go with changing the energy system.

Nah, they just need need to add more color fixing cards. Whether it's pokemon abilities or trainer cards. Consistent energy would make multicolored decks too strong. Dragonite for example would be broken.

The weezing stall tech never works for me. Everytime I finally pull the second weezing to do the koga loop, I draw him on the following turn that my first wheezing died. The setup just takes too many cards to be reliable, its infuriating. It doesn't help that everytime I do draw into multiple, now the game refuses to give me any of my oaks or pokeballs or someone uses red card turn 1. This game is infuriating 😂
