Lyrics:
Let the old men tell the story
Let the legend grow and grow
Of the thirteen days of glory
At the siege of Alamo.
Lift the tattered banners proudly
While the eyes of Texas shine.
Let the fort that was a mission
Be an everlasting shrine.
Once they fought to give us freedom.
That is all we need to know
Of the thirteen days of glory
At the siege of Alamo ...

Back then they were called Texicans and Tejanos. May God Bless them for making such a stand. Also, to the choir, the Siege of Alamo was 13 days. Not 30. At least it sounds like that's what they're singing.

They are singing "13 days of glory." Texans might again be called to duty...to defend our soil of a new Republic of Texas. We shall see. I believe we are eagerly en masse awaiting, and we shall indeed remember the Alamo and Goliad and San Jacinto. This time we shall stand shoulder to shoulder with our Mexican and Mexican American brethren in a war against Communist tyranny.

@@tommythompson1172 fantasyland, man. The time for such a fight was yrs ago. And these Mexicans and Latins are Africans are coming here to eat from the leftist -run gravy train that has been used to lure all these people here in the first place. It's being done to break down the whole structure of the country, not just Texas. I was eating at a restaurant the other day in coastal Mississippi and no one in the place was speaking English. This nightmare has been unfolding since Reagan was foolish enough, in '86, to sign off on amnesty for three million in promises that left would then get serious about border. Fooled him and have been out fighting GOP on this issue for two generations. Total victory by communists and they are now in the very beginning of the exploitation phase of that victory. They are replacing Americans with new ones. We will be canceled and won't lift a finger because that would be RACISS. Racism charge has paralyzed whites since that bullet went through King's head in '68. There will be no fight this time around. Rome went from republic to tyranny; so are we now. And Rome, btw, was being overrun by foreigners and barbarians. They lost the will to fight for whatever reason. Our reason? The left has used race like a cudgel for over 50 yrs, with no end in sight. We can't beat it. Just too much "white guilt", so we give our country, fought for by our betters, and deny our children and grandchildren their birthright just hoping we won't be called racists by communists. History will record the giving away of this mighty power to bums, negrose, mestizos from third world tyrannies as the greatest, seemingly inexplicable waste in history. I'm depressed and sad to wake up in it every day. I'm 60, served in military in Cold War, retired fed LEO, pay my taxes, pray, warned people about communism having open-field running in America since I was a teen. Nobody listens.

That perception is held in Europe, the United States, it is a thieving country, an opportunist, stealing territory and culture, not only did I steal territory from Mexico, but the culture of Cowboy from Mexicans, from Germany I stole gastronomy, from Holland, the figure of Santa Claus, they believe that they are the direct heirs of the legacy of Ancient Rome because they think that the United States was born as an inspiration of Ancient Rome, to say that Washington, created the United States in the likeness of Ancient Rome, and that States United. I read that the defenders of the Alamo ran out of ammunition on the third charge on the morning of March 6, 1836, but had repelled two earlier charges that same morning. I believe it was the south wall the Mexican army overwhelmed with large numbers and there weren't enough defenders to hold them off. Might want to check that out, but I believe that is what I heard.

Slavery was illegal in Mexico, but Peonage was perfectly legal. The difference was a slave could be sold free of the land the slave worked on. A Peon could only be sold with the land he lived on. Worse, while Peonage survived in Mexico till while into the 20th century, so did Slavery. Now, technically Slavery was illegal in Mexico after 1821, it still existed into the 20th century. This was so well known that when the Navajo were defeated in 1864, it was talked about selling all of the survivors in Mexico. This proposal was vetoed, but it was seen as a doable option (I e. the Navajos could be sold as slaves in the 1860s in Mexico). It takes more then words to outlaw Slavery, even in the US there were attempts to perserve slaves after 1865. Those attempts were suppressed but attempts were made.

Congress shall pass no laws to prohibit emigrants from bringing their slaves into the republic with them, and holding them by the same tenure by which such slaves were held in the United States; nor shall congress have power to emancipate slaves.” This is an ugly detail of the Alamo saga no educated Texan should be proud of.

Yep that's what people want, legends and lies instead of historical truth about the Alamo. The Alamo is a MEXICAN victory for all time, so get use to it. The Mexican soldier was only protecting his land front an invasion of armed illegal aliens from the States. Crockett surrendered to the soldiers, and was executed; Travis committed suicide at the north wall, and Bowie died, while hiding under his bed covers. Some trinity. The battle of the Alamo was no Thermopylae at all, by any kind if imagination! At that Greek battle, the Greeks WERE fighting for their homeland from an invader, however, in Texas, 1836, the illegal aliens from the states were STEALING and robbing a land NOT theirs. See the difference folks? Also, Crockett surrender to the Mexicans, only to be executed moments later. Travis committed suicide at the north wall, when he saw all was lost and, Bowie was hiding under his mattress, and was killed in this way. There were 253 Alamo defenders, over 90% of them were from the states, having illegally entered Texas, and they were fighting for a future slave state, as Texas did become. Some heroes! HOWEVER, it is nice that Texans celebrate a Mexican victory every year, I hope it continues forever!

Up to a point, that is! Austin wanted to take apart the Mexican Federation step by step, he says so in one of his letters in 1835, dated, October 5th. Jackson send Houston to Texas with one object: steal Texas, period. Travis was a member of the extreme right, the War Party, who started the war. Nope, the Texas War was just one huge land grab to add another SLAVE state to the South. And the FIRST official law given by the new Texan state was that no free blacks were allowed in the state. The cause for Liberty and freedom was only for white southerners, who needed the slaves to work free for them!
