The average husband when his wife starts talking about her day at work. People who get run over by cars, despite cars making noise and sometimes even honking their horn before collision. Those people are in a noisy environment. They hear the soldiers but they are concentrated on their tasks or sights. They are not aware the soldiers are screaming at them until the last moment. When I was a teenager I was in Civil Air Patrol for about 3 years. We trained and did a reenactment of Changing of the Guard at local cemetery. Its a hell of a lot harder than people think and it was a lot of pressure to be perfect. It was disrespectful to the unknown soldier and the real guards. I was and still am proud of being a part of the "ceremony". If anyone is intrested in viewing its heald at Floral Haven Cemetery in Broken Arrow Okl. on memorial day weekend. (Or it used to be. I haven't been there in about 15 years)

I had the great privilege of witnessing the changing of the guard at The Tomb when I was in high school back in the mid 1960s. To this day, a sense of awe comes over me whenever I remember it.

One has to be exceptional to be chosen for these roles. I was lucky with another classmate to present a wreath on the tomb of the unknown soldier. Their movements are like clockwork. They should be honored.

Soldiers that stay at their post day and night through wind and snow deserve respect. Also a lot of those guards have gone through war, those memories take a toll on some people.

What a colossal waste of time and money to have a bunch of soldiers march up and down "protecting" a tomb. And as if that weren't enough, they don't even know whose buried there! He's an unknown solider. Why the F does some anonymous tomb need protection and guarding in the first place? Is it loaded with gold? Is there a mob of people trying to destroy it for some reason? No, it's just another way to waste tax payer dollars performing some dumb pointless rituals and ceremonies that accomplish nothing useful or productive. Incredibly dumb, beyond words. Predictable response: "You don't understand! The tomb SYMBOLIZES all those who have fallen in defense of our great nation, it's done out of RESPECT and HONOR and PRIDE and APPRECIATION for the SACRIFICES of all the US soldiers who've given their lives in defense of our nation!" Blah blah blah just BS virtue-signaling chest-thumping empty rhetoric. Dead people don't care about any of those capitalized words, they don't care about anything at all because they're dead. So the ceremony is pointless and dumb.

Visited the unknown solider tomb a few years back , amazing discipline and a somber experience , why you would want to mess with the guards is beyond me .

They won’t shoot because BLM is a thing . Can you imagine the backlash ? They can easily shift the blame to the sentinels side if the dude even has a hint of color to his skin .
