Great video. I live in Arizona, with its extreme climate. Even with a dedicated room for my instruments, with a full time humidifier and AC running 24/7, my collection of guitars all react and necks bow or back bow to a degree you get high action or buzz. I have to adjust the truss rods. In November the room has perfect conditions but not in July. So… With that said, I couldn’t buy this guitar, even as wonderful as it sounds. But- great video!

I just got mine for stupid cheap at a close out sale at a music shop. Deal of a lifetime. I can’t wait to get it, take it out and strum a G chord on it.

If it's to good to be true...then it probably is. I hope they didn't get you for much. And if you paid from one of those 59 bucks for a 8,000 dollar then shame on Facebook for letting thise ads exist. @travisowens8602

When I bought my D28 it took quite awhile to get it. The HD28 was in high demand so it took a long time to get mine on the line. It was well worth the wait! It's awesome and with my soap bar pickup, it sings!! The D28 is the best buy for your buck!!!

absolutely!!! 😎 i bought my 2019 d28 in 2020, right before the huge increase of price here in europe, and it is a fantastic guitar, sounding and looking and feeling great to unbelievable... it really makes me happy everyday...

When I was in 3rd grade I wore pants with holes and patches about the knees handed down from my older brother. They were distressed honestly by playing marbles, running through the bramble and scooting under barbed wire fences. Then the fashion world adopted a distressed style to give it a casual and loved look. But they put the holes above and below the knee and those of us that wore real authentic knew the difference. Now Martin is doing the same thing for guitars and trying to make the guitar looks loved. It would be easy to look down on this guitar except it sounds so good.

I have that exact model guitar. I've owned it 2-3 years. This summer I fell in love with a 1999 Taylor 814bce that sounded fantastic. I played it exclusively for a few old time jams. Everyone loved it until I brought out that D28. There was no comparison. The D28 has a huge sound that can easily carry a 12-person Old Time jam. The energy level went through the roof. I returned that Taylor and will miss it forever. It was a lot easier to play than the Martin.

Thanks for sharing that with us, gentlemen. It’s a guitar I wouldn’t pick up because I couldn’t afford it, but got to listen to it here on your Channel. No “trust” rod means you’d want to know a good luthier and I’m sure there were more around in 1937. Thanjj k s again for presenting it to us.

I happened to be in Gruhn's 14 years ago and saw a D-28 hanging there that was marked 'Custom.' The sales rep said George Gruhn liked the specs of the 1937 Martin D-28 and asked Martin to make guitars to that spec, which he would sell at his store. This was one of those, and for the low price of $3,200, which is about what a current HD-28 goes for. A great deal. Whether Martin liked the idea so much that they began producing 28V and other torrified models, or George's request was part of a trend they were seeing, who knows. But my Adirondack top custom D-28 is a keeper no doubt. The tone is simply stunning.

Is there any other difference between aged and non aged since both are VTS? There is a 1,000 dollar difference in price and makes me wonder if the aged model comes with more than just an aged appearance to justify the extra 1k? Don’t want to miss out in case there is more - thanks!

@andyorr15976 ай бұрын
I own both. There’s no comparison. The Red Label FG5 is a fine guitar but it’s not in the same league. Materials, finish, fretwork, etc. are all inferior. When you get up the Yamaha LL series, you’re getting much closer to the D28 Authentic.

How is the feel comparison? Does this one feel a little better to play? Sound is hard to differentiate but I know also the feel while playing may be a little better? Otherwise if not feel or sound diff I like my new guitars new. Thanks for any info you can share….

I have the non aged version it's the best guitar I've ever owned. I briefly owned a used version of the aged version it's well made but the aging looks fake. I own a real 1950's martin and there is no mistaking what is real and what is a guitar wearing a costume. Get the non aged.

I own Ten acoustic guitars and i love them all,But Taylor and Martin guitars are way overpriced i will not be buying anymore,There charging more for extremely cheaper materials its a huge rip off in my opinion, Taylor made the 816ce cheaper made than my 2015 and don't sound near as good,The same with my 2018 814ce DLX the new ones are no way built as good now.Martin you can have all of them i have a good Martin guitar but the new ones are a big disappointment at least all the new ones I've played.Martin has be overrated for years and ive owned twelve Martin guitars.

JP Cormier for the win. He is so right. Martin have really lost it. Let's make a worn guitar,leave out the arguably best modern guitar upgrade of a rod,and let's charge a shithouse full of money for it. A Boucher with even BETTER woods for half the price will destroy this instrument. Sorry just my South African 2cents....! Great work though on the demo gents.

Certain guitar manufacturers are very tuned in now to customer segmentation, realising there is a certain segment willing to hand over a large chunk of change for relatively superficial things, like aging. This is an "authentic" 1937 model in a sense of "well, not _really_ authentically from 1937, which seems at least a little disingenuous. This guitar actually sounded a bit funky to me, like it wasn't well tuned. Not for me. If I had thousands burning a hole in my pocket, I'd get a Yamaha FG9 and save myself 5 grand.
