Being left handed, high-end Yamahas seem to be unavailable to me. Does anybody know if they can be ordered?

I didn't hear anything much more compelling in the 300 series and above ( besides a 324 mahogany model), so I got the 224ce-k, and I find it full sounding.

Fantastic demo, as always. I'm set to buy the standard plus, mainly because I want the ash pink color. Both of these models sound extremely close. The business between Japan & Indonesia is not a factor. I've had Indonesian built guitars that were super. And, I've had a few outstanding Japanese built guitars. But in this case, I'm going with my color of choice. Yamaha has designed two very similar guitars & the difference is rather unnoticeable .

I got the neon(ish) yellow, because it was clearanced. It's awesome in its awkwardness. If I paid full price, I would have gone for the motorcycle green.

After all these months, I’m just watching this demo and I’m totally impressed. Is the playability/action easier than the D18 or the D28?

Just ordered mine from guitar center. Will pick it up next week. Was surprised how small it was but how big was the sound. Originally ordered the koa but was underwhelmed by the cheap looking dark flat finish. Guess I’m old school and need that glossy rosewood look

What a fantastic video! Tonewoods can feel a bit conceptually woowoo af times, so I love the clear and *scientific* explanations of what actually constitutes tone. Thanks for this -- and for my newfound, deeply excruciating yearning for a cedar top guitar 😢

Taylor is much clearer, more balanced, without masking. Martin sounds good enough, but there is some enhancement in the bass. And the Taylor is always better playability, you can hear how much better it sounds just by clear sound and no buzzing. 314ce clearly the winner.

I have a Yamaha C2 piano, made in Japan, and can attest to the beauty of the engineering -- you can try to flip the keyboard cover shut and it will slowly and smoothly lower itself into place via some cleverly-made, hidden mechanism . On the guitar front, I have am LJ26. Not nitro like these, but Japanese made and it has the most fantastically smooth and comfortable neck, boomy sound, sustain for days. Small tendency to some fret buzz though.

The rosewood has more bass....deeper sounds. I'd guess you can depend on top line craftsmanship from Japan....the Chinese L series guitars can be flawed at times (I have a LL16)...even if they sound good. Neck and fret problems...Sometimes they're great. Lots on of tension in the neck of the L series instruments if it's a loud rich one...I've played a lot of them and the best sounding ones are usually harder to play. Even with a 2mm action.....is the FS9 easier to play? I have 5 yamaha's.

My advice, play every guitar in the store, don't look at price or make! Buy the one that sounds the best to your ears regarding the way you play! My friend payed a lot of money for his Martin and he sounds great playing it! I have an old Seagull cedar top half the price and I love it. When we play together, that's when ppl turn their heads and say 'wtf was that!' But we also have distinct styles. He has fantastic technique and I, due to arthritis but good ears, fill in athmospheric voids in shrewed ways. Be different, be creative!

I own the Martin O-18 and switched out the factory bone nut and saddle and plastic bridge pins. Replaced with Fossil Walrus Ivory nut and saddle and bridge pins. Wow it sounds like a Martin OM-42 mini me. I would own either of these guitar's and replace the factory with the Fossil Walrus Ivory nut, saddle and bridge pins. They would sound like a Martin OM-42 and save alot of monies.

One of the most (if not the most) underrated guitar brands. Their high end Japan made guitars are quite exceptional. Didn't James Taylor use one on his first album with Fire and Rain, Going to Carolina Etc?

I’ve had multiple Yamaha guitars. All are awesome. Whenever someone asks me what guitar to buy I suggest the FG800. It’s still one of my main acoustics. I’m thinking of getting a LR baggs anthem for it. I know it’s crazy putting a pickup that costs the same as the guitar it’s going in, but it’s just that good.

It is a common misconception that Martin pioneered the steel string guitar. In fact even though you could special order a Martin with steel strings as early as 1910 the first production Martin with steel strings was the 2-17 in 1922 the same year that Gibson made the the archtop jazz L5. Lyon & Healy (the company that became Washburn) was selling Parlor guitars with metal tailpieces that went around the bottom of the guitar since the 1890s. Hundreds of these guitars were sold through mail order catalogs and they were being strung with steel strings that were available from the end of the nineteenth century. End users did this to get more volume out of the instrument. The first people to use steel string acoustic guitars were the blues players from the delta but of course our history books tell us that it was white men who invented them.

I have the FG9M. Initially I thought the FS9R would be my next guitar when it launched… but the longer I’ve had the FG9, I see no reason to get an FS. The FG9 is so well balanced with such an incredible dynamic range, it covers any style of play. Unless you are someone who prefers a smaller body for comfort/size, I’d recommend getting the FG9 instead because it does it all.

I have the Blonde TM Twin. I run my Tele’s & my Pedal Steel through it. It’s AWESOME on both guitars. Its also lightweight which is HUGE for me because of 4 back surgeries. If I were just playing Tele’s I would’ve bought this TM Deluxe.
