The problem with the Paranormal series is that I always want all of them! The Strat-o-sonic is my top pick this go-around. I’m always a sucker for a Fender/Gibson mix-up, and it’ll be a nice companion to my Paranormal Toronado.

Great demo! The Paranormal Nashville Strat was really bugging me. I thought that I had seen something like this before and then it finally hit me. Squier just built a brand new Robin Ranger! All the Nashville Strat needs is a reverse headstock and boom - Robin Ranger straight out of the 1980s! One of my favorite guitarists of the era - Rob Buck with 10,000 Maniacs, played several Rangers back then.

They are all cool, but I think the Strat-O-Sonic might fill a missing niche for me, TBD. Want to try one locally before buying, and hear those two push/pull controls in particular. I recommend go the extra mile and demo those extra features for future reference. Since you have done a good job of tabs on the timeline, folks can skip around to hear what they are most interested in, if they are pressed for time and go back and forth for comparisons if desired also. The three straight tones sounded very good.........

Strat o sonic has a Gibson neck scale. Also the neck angle at the body is like a Gibson because of the tailpiece. Like mine. (It's red...)

I remember when the strat o sonic was a fender production model. It was around the time they made the cyclone and toronado too. It's funny they've brought back as as squiers. The o sonic is my favorite. Ironically it's based on a LP special or two pickup junior.

At first when I saw the single pickup esquire, I thought 'meh' but actually that 3 way switch gives it a really cool way to flip between sounds but return exacly to the previous sound. Furthermore if one uses fairly low volume on the first two positions, the third position becomes more like a gain boost. I imagine that would be super useful in a Nirvana-esque power trio type thing where you quckly need to jump between loud and quiet bits, or get more dynamic range out of a basic, but cranked tube amp. That Strat-O-Sonic sounds fabulous also. Might have to keep an eye out for a used one. It's funny, I feel like Squier is making so much cool stuff these days, I'm just sad I can't afford to treat them like Pokemon and collect them all!

The fender 12-string headstock always looks weird to me. I did dig the sound of it though, suitably chimey/jangly. Dig the switching on the Esquire Deluxe, along with its general simplicity. Ditto the switching on the nashville Strat. Not normally a fan of the painted headstocks, but the back one on the stratosonic looks good.

I think calling the Nashville guitar a stratocaster is a misnomer. That is definitely a tele buddy with a double cutaway. The only thing that makes it a strat are the pickup configuration and the headstock. Still a nice looker though!

The Nashville Strat custom is a very cool guitar with one problem. Its double bound non contour body makes it very uncomfortable to hold and play for extended periods. If they had only used a standard Stratocaster body it would be amazing.

Nice job but you kinda missed the point of the Strat-O-Sonic: With the P-90s, wraparound bridge, 12-inch radius, 24.75 scale length, and "cherry" finish option, this is very much intended as a Les Paul Special/SG Special with a Strat body. Very different from the Noventa guitars, for example, and unlike anything Fender/Squier has ever done (as far as I know).

Does the strat-o-sonic have p90s or are they just single coils that look like p90s? The fender website does not say p90 any where in the description. I notice here you say “p90-style pickups”. That doesn’t sound the same as saying “actual p90 pickups”.

P-90s were designed by Gibson, who have been using them since the late 1930s. I would think that Fender/Squier call theirs a “P-90 type” to avoid a lawsuit.

I just got the gold nashville. I don't love anything about it yet aside from how it looks. There's a 7-way control upgrade on reverb, we'll see if that helps along with a Glendale plate and saddles. Then a middle pick up replacement, and then the other two, and then its on it's way to being a whole different ship. Just no good sounds in it so far.

I'm very interested in the Jazzmaster 12. It's the only variation of it that I'm willing to overlook the missing Rhythm circuit in...but, alas poor me, 'tis not available in my dexterity Lefties may only be 10% of the population but I bet 100% of the guitar playing ones would buy this if it were available.

Yeah it sucks being a left-handed guitarist. Stores will usually only have 1-2 guitars available out of hundreds for lefties at any given time and typically something like a Strat and Ibanez only. Although making up 10% of the population I would estimate the amount of actual left handed guitarists is much lower. Like 5% as a high estimate and 1% as a low estimate. Many lefties are pushed to play right handed due to the issues above so it is still rare to come across lefty guitarists.

I dont get the point of squier. From what I remember, and I may be wrong, squiers were always cheaper, Mexican made fenders...but Mexican made fenders are also a thing, and they're cheap. I dont get it, am I missing something in the details or is squier kind of redundant?

Look at the prices of made in Mexico Fenders. Also Squiers have made a massive improvement in the past 5-10 years. They are a serious contender nowadays.

Squier hasn't been MIM since the early 90s. Mexican Fenders are like $800 and up. There's a huge market for good Fender designed guitars under $600, a niche which Squier fills
