The Bismarck was a battleship and the flagship of the German Navy. At the time of her commissioning in August 1940, she was considered the largest and most powerful battleship in the world. Interesting fact: The "Bismarck" (German flagship) fought together with the German heavy cruiser "Prinz Eugen" against (the British parade ship) "Hood" and the British battleship "Prince of Wales". Below Iceland, there was a duel between the then largest British and German battleships ... So Britain had 2 large ships ... and Germany the largest and one medium-sized ship at the time ..., when the battle broke out. The "Bismarck sank the "Hood" with one shot into the ammunition chamber, from a distance of 15.6 km (about 9.7 miles). She also hit the "Prince of Wales" badly ... The Bismarck only received 3 shots, which resulted in severe water ingress...
