Drum corps BS and arguments aside, I'm very glad to have marched with you. You and Malik affected the atmosphere of the entire corps in a good way and I am very content with fading into the background in my last year marching if the guys taking on the spotlight are guys like you. Can't wait to see what John and Scott do with you the next 2 years and how far you go in life after that. Do it up, my man

Every person in the corps is equally important. Just because you didn't have most of the spotlight, that doesn't mean you didn't serve the corps well. Your service, talent, and hard work is admired. Trumpet players all over look up to you.

Any tips for getting such an amazing and warm sound? God damn you sound amazing
@alanhester76496 жыл бұрын
Nathan Roscoe Always strive for the warm sound you already have in your head. Some people obsess over the little details to try and obtain the “best” sound but get no where. Good tone comes from imagining yourself singing through the trumpet. This means there's a beginning middle and end to the notes you play, really accentuating dynamics, and listen to yourself via iPhone on a regular basis and ask yourself, "does it sing?". Most of the time your ears will tell you what you should do.

@alanhester76496 жыл бұрын
Niya Long Listen to trumpet players that inspire you! My favorites are Wayne Bergeron, Phil Smith, Chet Baker, Clark Terry, and many more. The first thing any trumpet player starting out should do, is get inspired. There’s plenty out there, you just have to look!

These videos are depressing to me....I was the top high school trombone player in Indiana from 94-96 and I rejected marching band in college....and got punished for it. I should've embraced DCI...joined Star of Indiana, marched a a division 1 college, but I was done with it all by the time I made it to college. Now I see the huge opportunities that I missed out on...

@@alanhester7649 Any reason in particular for changing horns for your solo? was it a different kind of horn or was it just aesthetic?
@alanhester76496 жыл бұрын
trex1490 The horn was very different. It was a larger size bore, which aided me to get a warmer, more lyrical sound for the solo. It was modeled similar to a Bach Strad 37.
