I played this at my dad's funeral 6 months after I had hit my Rock bottom with my alcoholism Jan 1st 2015, I checked into detox the next day and haven't had a drink since. Unfortunately in the following years I started to ignore God again because I was still scared to process my guilt until February 2 2022 when God blessed me with complete brokenness again and I found myself returning to celebrate recovery after the factory I worked at for 5years burned down and my wife left me. I'm now engaged to a godly woman, playing guitar in several worship ministries and in school to be a drug and alcohol counselor because of the grace and power of the lord

My daddy passed away this morning at 9:57am listening to this beautiful song! Thank you Mr. Jackson!! Your songs, especially this one is forever a piece of my father in me. I held his hand and watched him take his last breath here in his earthen vessel, and in the twinkling of an eye, he was in the presence of the Lord at the pearly gates of heaven. My dad had a rough life here on earth. From the time he was a little boy, and to see the softness of my dad as he grew older, and came to know Jesus Christ and to have the honor as his daughter to be with him as he passed thank you thank you. This is one of my favourite songs. This was a very touching performance. When she was 6 years old and travelling with her parents in another country, she met a young orphaned shoeless girl who was weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn some money to support herself and her siblings. Angelina went to talk to her and noticed that she was shoeless and had scars on her feet. Without prompting from her mother or grandmother who were accompanying her, she removed her shoes and gave them to the girl. That evening she recorded that incident in her diary and vowed to always sing barefoot when doing that in public to remind herself and us about the many needy children around the world. She kept that promise till today while raising millions for children charities. I discovered her when she was 7 years old and have been following her career since then. I'm not a religious man, but there are some hymns that just seems to resonate with me. This is one of those hymns and it has always been a favourite of mine from childhood. It has brought tears to my eyes and many lumps in my throat. And this version is just spectacular. I only wish he had done all the verses.

I love this performance. Alan Jackson reminds me of childhood summer vacations and my grandparents and how my grandpa would randomly start singing this....really belting it out. He wasn’t crazy at all...he just really loved The Father and The Son.

I recently lost my sister, my brother in law, and my precious grandson. I'm so sad some of the tine, My husband's passing was get ting a little easier but now I feel so alone. I hope they are visiting one another and enjoying God's glory. I do get to see Alan Jackson sing so I still have that. I think we all need to cry sometimes, It helps. Beautiful music helps us cope.
