Keith and Kylie, I had two Back Surgeries. One was from Feb. 1994. That was the Tethered Chord Surgery. One was from April 1995 . That was the Spinal Fusion . Ouch! Despite the fact that I have Spina Bifida.

Thanks Christopher. I'm a lot better now. That was from a long time ago. Despite the fact that it was from the 90 's.

Alan and I have the same condition. It started on my early 30's and it has been progressing, very slowly though. through out my life. Tripping, loosing ones balance, walking slowly are just some of the "perks" of this condition. I came to Canada in December 1987 and I've been truly gratefully ever since. Right away the doctors new about my condition and they prescribed me with a brace on my left leg. Later they discover that my right foot was dropping as well and now (over 15 years later) I'm wearing two braces that allow me to walk more or less normally. The loss of balance (even with the braces) made me realize that I needed a walking cane. I call that "the magic stick" since it makes younger people to open doors for me and gets me a seat in the public transportation, every single time. During summer it gets better since I wear shorts and everybody notice my braces. All and all it hasn't been that bad since I don't have any problem with my arms or hands and being a 74 year old retired plumber/welder I was able to function pretty normally and safely for most of my adult life. When people ask me how I manage this condition I tell them that I don't need a wheel chair (yet) and I'm not in any pain and that those are my perks. To Alan : we still have our minds and people who truly love us. How could we ask for more amigo? Greetings from Toronto.

Jorge, My dad had CMT. Diagnosed at 55, he went from ankle braces to full leg braces and a walker. He was still able to drive and get around well enough. Dad handled it with class, even after Alzheimer got him years later. Good luck with your fight.

I was told I have Charcot foot back 4 years ago. Because my husband died when he was 46 and I was 44 because he was misdiagnosed and died of the SWINE FLU. So after 3 years I lost my health insurance and now am on Medicaid (and draw $847 A MONTH) and it no longer pays for someone to go to a foot doctor. Thankful these wonderful people at Step Ahead in Alabaster Al that people usually go to for feet and legs AFTER you lose them and they have been so good to me but they can’t stop this of course but I have never heard it called this full name. Just Charcot foot. But when they described it it was like they were talking straight to me. he me when it said stumbling and FALLING (all the time) hammertoes on both feet but my left has lost it’s arch and I have what they call a rocker foot which means I have a huge knot under my foot and my whole foot has widened and no longer will move downward and the big toe just sits there. I have been told all my bones are breaking and will at some point start coming out of my skin then it will cause ulcers that won’t heal and I will lose my foot. I have very little feeling in either foot and up my legs and now my hands I can not tell if they are wet at times unless I rub them on my arms or other parts of my body. I don’t feel hot as easy and have to be very careful about burning myself. I have had back surgeries, neck surgery and have rheumatoid arthritis so I stay in so much pain but if I could have seen a foot Dr some of this stuff with falling (in public is the worse) and can’t reach down because I can’t stop myself from falling forward. It’s not fair that at 57 I have the body of a 75 year old and looking to lose one if not both of my feet because I don’t have insurance or the money to go to the right doctor. 😭 at lease maybe Mr Jackson don’t have the money part of the disease! I do wear one of those big black boots they dig out part of the bottom so my big knot sits down in it to help some with pain and I use a cane or I would be on the ground more than walking. I just wish I could afford the “Arizona brace” they say will help and if I could go to a podiatrist with my right foot before it gets beyond hope of losing it too. It’s sad that some has to lose limbs all because of Medicaid and they refuse to pay anything with my foot till I LOSE IT THEN they will pay for everything afterward I hope!! All because we don’t have money. ☹️ BUT I am still blessed I know that. I have a roof over my head clothes on my back and food to eat. It may not be the best but it gets me by. Good luck Mr Jackson! I will be praying for you!!!

@@MRCM-un1ui OH NO!! Is it worse than you thought? I have to try and not think about it but then at times that’s all I can do. My son said he didn’t think I would ever be able to wear a prosthetic but I pray I will be able to. My cousin had his took off from an accident at work and told me about getting up at night and forgetting he didn’t have a foot and would hit the floor. I don’t know what I will do. 😭 I am scared to death at the thought of it!! Thank you so much for relying to my comment even if it was a while later. Let me know how things go for you if you don’t care. 🙏🏻 my prayers will include you!!

I had spinal surgery 5 years ago in which 3 lower disks were removed. Biggest mistake I’ve ever made in my life. It would have to be God himself to cut on my back again. It affects your legs, feet, arms and hands. No meds help😖😖. Don’t do it!!!❤️
