[Chorus]
I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell
You the difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith, hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

Here on September 11th 2022, the world has changed so much since this catastrophic day. So many American lives were lost. It was however a day of National Unity, I was in a classroom in the 9th grade. Among fellow Americans of every race and religious belief. Nothing mattered except our American pride. I miss the days of unity. God bless the men and women who lost their lives, and to the ones who are still protecting our freedom.

Standing in my chiefs office, watching WTVD. When the second plane hit, he hit the alarm, and woke up the whole crew. 2 hours later, we were on a plane bound for McGuire AFB. From there, it was only a short hop to Manhattan, and hell on earth. I still cough up small black balls when I get winded, but I'd do it again in a heart beat. Doesn't seem like 20 years has passed. Hell, I'm not that old am I. Yeah, I guess I am. I hope they replay the video, just so the kids today can see what we get so upset about. They need to remember this day, and the people who we lost. Never forget December 7th, or September 11th. Days that changed the world.

I was 7 years old when the attack happened. My parents for obvious reasons didn't want me to see the news footage, so they sent me to my room as they watched it in the living room. But I can remember sitting in the hallway watching it without them knowing. It's a very vivid memory, even though I was too young to really comprehend what was going on, I can still remember it like it was yesterday.

I was at a Sprint site in Cheyenne Wyoming. One of the guys on the job ask me if I had heard the news about the the plane hitting the WTC. A few minutes later another plane hit. We were told to leave the job site and my crew and I went to my motel room and watched everything on TV. Every emotion that I knew of , ran through me that day. We called the red cross and they did not need any blood. I called the Army recruiting office to re-up. They said I was to old. The anger in me needed a release and all I could do was cry. I WILL NEVER FORGET. Jack Marsh

I come back to this song every year since I heard it as a child. My experience with 9/11 was reading books and watching a VHS tape my mom had recorded of the news. I was born too late to experience it. I can’t imagine the pain it brings to those who did experience it. I pray for this nation, that God grant us all peace.

I too come back to this song every year. I watched when Alan first played this song on TV live. My mom and I cried for a while and my dad proclaimed we need his CD when came out. I remember being in school when it happened. A lot of us where in shocked and some of us cried because we were scared. Even though we were more then a days drive away, it felt like it was in our back yard as kids. I honestly don't think any of us felt safe for a long time. It was so weird because I lived by an airport at the time. It was so quiet (outside of trains in the distance) that the silence scared you and when air traffic resumed, we all got edgy when we heard a plane go over head. Not knowing if there was going to be another attack not. So yes. I come back to never forget.

Alan Jackson is a gifted songwriter. Thank you Alan Jackson for this beautiful song. 21 years ago today something happened that none of us ever expected. At that time I was in my 4-wheel-driving-car on my way to the end of the day and heard it on the radio (with a time difference). I was still in training at the time. And I was in shock right away and almost caused another accident.... It was always my dream to fly to America one day, to see this great country and to be at the top of the WTC. That dream shattered then. Since that day I pray every year on 9/11 for the dead, their bereaved, the heroes and the soldiers. ... My name is Daniel Hertrampf, I am 41 years old and German. I live in a small village in southern Bavaria and have been a big fan of American country music and southern rock since I was young. As well as America itself.. God bless America and the rest of the world so that something terrible like this never happens again. #neverforget

Daniel, mein Vater war aus .ch und Er loved the U.S. Culture, Lifestyle. On the 9/11 he cried and we in the family were shocked and grieving. Even some few connationals of mine died at that scenario. Mein Vater war a soldier in WWII and received training as if .ch were going to be involved at war. Mein? Deutsch ist nicht gut & genug, sorry. I have been picking mostly old songs for my Music (assorted) Playlist, bitte, if you want, have a look. One of the most moving things I have ever witnessed was an unofficial 9/11 "never forget" parade. I was just sitting at a stoplight, not really thinking about what day it was. All these Jeeps started coming from the oncoming lane, and every one of them had an American flag and "Never Forget" banners. And you know what? All those cars waiting at that light, all those people with important things to do and important places to be - almost every one of them started honking their horns in respect and went to follow the Jeep parade. A whole intersection of cars leaving everything to honor the fallen. It bring tear to my eyes to this day.

I remember being in 4th grade an announcement came over the loud speaker not long after we got settled for class, for teachers in every grade to roll in their tvs and turn the news on. I remember the teacher crying and the room was dead silent. Not a peep. Other than the occasional sniffle. I can't remember but I think we were all let out early that day. I remember my mom crying and hugging me and her making calls to family members. It was just surreal. The next day though.... September 12th.... we saw a unity and pride in our nation like never seen before... we need to get back to that, to September 12th. We're all in this together. ❤

He worked nights and the night of 9/11 he showed up at work, he hadn't watched tv or listened to the radio so when he got to work he found the gates locked and the guard to him we're closed he responded We're Fedex we never close!! The guard had to break the news to him. I still get emotional on 9/11. It was my generation's Pearl Harbor.

We lost two friends on American 77. RIP Jennifer Lewis and Ken Lewis, and my next door neighbor who worked in the Pentagon. No matter how many years go by, the pain of your loss will never end. As I held my infant son and stood on my deck looking at the smoke from the Pentagon rising against the cloudless blue sky, I will NEVER forget the absolute paralyzing fear of just how dangerous living here in the shadow of the nation's capital can be. For those of us born and raised here, it is something you've always known..but up until that day, didn't KNOW. We always knew that in the event of a nuclear war, we would be the first to go..in the initial crater. We his it in denial by routinely practicing the duck and cover drills(like being under a piece of furniture would protect us from a nuclear bomb...lol). But THIS attack...and the ones that followed in October 2001 and 2002(anthrax, Beltway sniper) would remind us of that vulnerability, long buried but never really forgotten. I remember not being able to make phone calls for days. Trying to reassure our 6 year old daughter that the aircraft we could hear flying above us was not the bad guys coming to crash into our house, but the military...here to protect us. The surreal scene of battle positions lining the Potomac. I remember the heartbreaking sight of families walking around New York in shock looking for family members that would never be found. None of us had any idea of the bond we would share forever. The bond of grief. I remember the people lined up to donate blood for the massive number of injured....that would never walk from the rubble. In the days and weeks that followed, a resolve and unity seemed to blanket the country. A unity we haven't seen since then. We all were reminded that none of us is promised tomorrow. Just love one another....put aside our differences and concentrate on what we have in common. One love.

I've heard him sing it live twice, tears streaming down my cheeks, no idea how he gets through it without breaking down. But that is true for so much country music, Colin Raye singing 'Love Me, or Vince Gill singing 'Go Rest High On That Mountain', I can't get through any of them singing along without my voice cracking. On 9/11, was in Atlanta, on a jobsite, when we got the word. The job shut down, our boss put out the word, go home and be with your family. I-85 was a parking lot, jammed solid, from my motel room watched the same red Jeep sit in the same place for 3 hours. I had CNN on, saw the 2nd plane hit live. Just stunned, F-14's circling overhead, as CDC was 8 blocks away and a major terrorist target. I spent the entire remainder of the day calling everyone I loved, and letting them know, didn't know if I could get out of town or what was coming.

@@alanjackson. HI how you doing.... I just listened to that song again. Makes me cry. I listen to every 9/11 as my tribute. I share it too. So cool of you to acknowledge. Just from that song I know you must be a fine man. Right now I am in the deep south, Mobile; AL. Have been in FL for past decades but too many damn Yankees there. So I will get your info and see whats been happening with you, songs, concerts, your exciting life. Maybe you will be close. Again so sweet of you to say hi. The greatest is love....
