Same. The Doherty episode especially, me and my dad loved Ken... I was always a staunch Hendry fan, whilst my dad was a loyal Jimmy White fan, so the 90's were eventful in our house on Crucible final days! Ha... But when Ken won in 97, we both felt happy with it. He absolutely deserved that one.

And Alan has more of an accent even than in commentary, I feel? (I suppose he tries to be more standard then, as it's TV and all and he needs to be understood) Because I understand him less now. 😅 (English is not my first language) I do understand everything in commentary and yes I love him, when he's on I always listen to him (on the app) instead of my local commentators.

Yep, I believe it's called "code switching" which is something we all subconsciously do to some extent. I'm English, but for example when I visit the USA my accent will become slightly American. In my home city I'll speak with my natural accent. It's a weird thing that most of us do without even thinking about it.

Yes, I agree. This is a great interaction, friendly and natural. Unlike other sports there seems to be a feeling of real family between the ex pros - no tension, jealousy or big rivalries, just a mutual respect which is how it should be. Thoroughly enjoy watching the "old" brigade get together like this as it brings back memories of all the great matches I watched in the late eighties and early nineties. Sorry to hear about your dad. I lost mine just a few weeks ago and it obviously isn't nice. Watching this cheered me up.

Lovely interesting conversation! One my abiding memories of Alan was when he was on the tv show called Big Break (I think), it was hosted by Jim Davidson, who asked Alan if by any chance he was related to the old time wrestler Mick McManus. Without hesitation and so straight faced Alan said yes he’s my uncle, which completely threw Jim right off balance. Alan then admitted he had lied and the whole studio erupted in laughter😂.
