Ed Piskor’s wishes on his suicide note were that Jim not take down the channel, even in light of what would eventually transpire thereafter. Since Jim’s uploaded yet another video on the channel, it seems that Ed’s wishes will be honored ‘til the end. Regardless of what went down and why, this is worthy of respect for Jim as a person outside of just comics, at least it is in my eyes.

I don't post comments. I don't. Who has the time? I watch, like, and go. Today, in honor of Ed Piskor and what you two have created here, I post to say-thank you. Your time, effort, patience, and most of all, enthusiasm for comics is infectious. It recalled to my mind why I loved the medium when I had grown to hate it in its current state. Peace be unto you and your family in this time of trial, Jim Rugg. Vaya von Dios, Ed Piskor. You will indeed be missed.

In a weird way you guys are like friends to me. I know para-relationships are becoming more and more common nowadays because of how much social media we consume but I always felt like this channel was meant for me to find. I’m both an artist, comic book writer, and huge pro wrestling fan and former wrestler. When I heard about the allegations I was disappointed for a lack of a better word but then when I heard about Ed’s death and read his note I was devastated. I don’t think I’ve ever come so close to crying over a total stranger. No matter what the truth is, a man who inspired many people is dead now. Ed and Jim, through this channel inspired me to not give up on comics. After the release of my last comic and the less than stellar sales and support I honestly was on the verge of just giving up on my stories all together. This channel showed me that there are people out there who support unconventional and cartoony art styles and gave me hope that my efforts weren’t in vein. This must be an awful time for Jim as he was put between a rock and a hard place in this situation and it wasn’t fair to him and certainly not to Ed. I hope that Jim will continue on in someway because I feel like it would be a travesty to not have some form of cartoonist kayfabe still around. Based on his note, I feel like that’s what Ed would have wanted.
@jcandram7 ай бұрын
I feel the same way. I can’t seem to get over the grief I’m feeling. I thought with time and more light on the situation,possibly forgiveness asked if needed we could come to an understanding and learn from it. My hope was we would all continue on. Congrats at least putting your work out there that’s more than I’ve ever done. I’ve only worked in much smaller developments art project but always want to do more. I’ve tried but do not have the hours to dedicate to make myself better. Keep up your work and good luck hope to see it. Put a link or something maybe you’ll get some Kayfabe effect.

As much as I watched Kayfabe over the last few years, Ed and Jim almost feel like family. I would try to watch the newest video every morning but would catch the ones I missed on the weekends while I cooked breakfast for my family. The shoot interviews with all of the legendary creators are so amazing, especially the ones with Sergio Aragones, Howard Chaykin, Stephen Bissette and Mark Millar. I just can't believe Eddie is gone now. I loved the guy and never met him, although I was glad to superchat him during livestreams to express my gratitude to both him and Jimmy for introducing me to comics and creators that I didnt know about. Jim, thank you for honoring Ed's last wishes and posting new vids. This must be devastating for you and my heart breaks for you. Please keep the channel going somehow if you can, maybe with Tom Scioli. The Kayfabe community is already heartbroken over the tragic loss of Ed. This channel means so much to the comic book community. Of course the choice is yours Jim and I respect whatever you decide to do. I found out last night and stayed up till almost 4AM reading everything I could about what happened, as if finding out more would explain the senselessness and suddenness of it all. It was only Monday when I played one of your videos during my workout as usual, oblivious to what was going on. It’s shocking how someone or something can be a part of your life and suddenly no longer be, forever. I’ve probably watched over 500 if not a thousand of your videos. If the channel was reduced to only the Shoot Interviews, it would already be an invaluable source of information and inspiration for comics enthusiasts. Ed’s passion for comics was palpable. As he would often say, “a rising tide lifts all boats,” and my assessment is that Ed’s (and Jim’s) output has lifted the comics community. I remember seeing David Choe visibly saddened when talking about his friend Anthony Bourdain in one of the videos. I don’t even want to imagine his or any other of Ed’s friends’ grief. My condolences to his all his loved ones. If we go anywhere after this life, hopefully Ed is somewhere reading and making more comics.

I've never had anyone in my life that shares my passion for comics and their craft. With Cartoonist Kayfabe I found an outlet for this passion. With Ed Piskor I found a teacher, someone I looked up to for their skill and dedication. In the past four years, some of the most formative of my life thus far, I've listened to Ed talk for more hours than I have some of my real-life friends. It was this channel that taught me more about comics and their history that I could ever have hoped to stumble across on my own. It introduced me to Crumb, Clowes, Ware and many other creators who I now deeply admire and take inspiration from. I'm tearing up now typing this and listening to the video. I intended to meet Ed at a con one day, to tell him how much he inspired and taught me. I would have been one of many he heard it from, surely. This is a momentous loss to the comics community. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends, I can't imagine what they are going through in this time. This is all so surreal.
