Following HP, he was confronted with a lot of rather invasive fans. Some seemed to forget that he was a grown man, not a circus attraction. This has made him a bit more distant. I think what mattered with him was the way you’d approached him. My friend and I once met him in a bar in Dublin after a play. While he appeared exactly that kind of distant at first, he opened up very quickly when we talked to him respectfully and normal. He then was incredibly warm, funny and nice and even gave us tips on which restaurant we should try. It was a really lovely experience.

He Sign thousands of pictures from Harry Potter. You can see him doing that at the premieres. What he didn't like was when adult males especially came up to him and wanted something signed and usually didn't want it made out to anybody. To him that seemed like he wanted to sell it when he gave it away free. I would bet he would not turn down a woman a child. Like. I said they all signed thousands and a lot of them were given to charitable auctions which were bought up by collectible places, Who In turn would selling them with a certificate of authenticity. You can buy them. You have to make sure that the place is legitimate. See, unfortunately, dear sweet Alan didn't know how little time he had left to live nor do any of us, Or he would have gladly signed a lot more. I'm sure

I think (and this is just my opinion) just like some of the stars in the Series, they moved on. From an interview, Alan said that he doesn't dwell on his roles. He does appreciate the love of his fans but he doesn't want to be typecast. He doesn't want to be Professor Snape forever. Just like what Daniel Radcliffe is doing now. Dan is doing theater plays and acting in different roles in films. I appreciate Alan as an actor no matter what role he portrays. This just shows that he doesn't want to pretend in front of people.

From what I've seen, Emma Watson is possibly one of the only "Harry Potter" stars who still latches onto the character she played in the films. She brings up Hermione in most interviews I've seen of her.

I don't think that's the reason at all. He signed many, many autographs of Harry Potter pictures at his premiers. He would never turn a child down. And I doubt he would turn down a woman either. But sometimes man approached me with pictures, a bunch of them because they wanted to sell them. And that's what he didn't want to do so. He pretty much just said he didn't want to sign Harry Potter photos. That had nothing to do with the character. Or you wouldn't sign for anything character that he played. He signed many that were auctioned off for charity Which were bought by Collecticable companies who in turn would sell them with the COA. I have several that are legitimate Sadly. Unfortunately, and it breaks my heart but we will not be getting anymore Autographs from dear Alan, so it's a good thing There are places that have them available.

I dont think Alan was cold here. I agree with some comments about him as a great actor not wanting to be typecasted by one character. He was brilliant ( and quite sexy!) in a lot of roles (including Snape of course) i'm not that young so I saw him in other previous films. Also he was really generous in real life. By the way according to this video's date two months later he had a stroke that unveiled the cancer that finally took him😥. Rest in peace dear handsome Lord Rickman!

it must be frustrated that ppl appreciate his old role than himself .I admit it i start to like him because of HP ,if i met him first i might wonder who he is or may not dare to say he's sexy af just like i did today .I think i fall head over heels on him because of Snape .And thats when i start to appreciate all his role/movies/theater .Too bad i was too late, after a month (or less) fangirling over him, he died .Even its 10month (is it?) of his death now i still can't move on .

@aks1 I am assuming you commented this before you found out about him having cancer. But disregarding that, he was already 69 here. Imagine being 69. Nearly 70. Do you think you'll have the energy and the behaviour of when you were in your 20s, 30s, 40s? He has been incredibly kind throughout his entire life towards everyone he met. In the footage you see of him within the time period of a year before his passing, you can see that he was incredibly affected by everything he was unknowingly (both for him and the public) dealing with. Just because he still had bursts of his regular vibrant energy (which is just his everlasting personality and genuine reactions), people need to keep in mind that suffering under pain, fatique, and just old age can even make the chirpiest of people sing a lower tune.
