People say Gerrard not winning the league with Pool is such a pity. I say, Shearer not winning it once with Newcastle Utd and still head and shoulders above the rest in the scoring department, is the biggest sad story of EPL history. Such a legend of the EPL. One of the fiercest first time stikes and rare to see someone with so much confidence as to hit them like belters into the corner from so far out.

I think he was ok with where he was.. seeing that Alex wanted him at United and he said no. He had the opportunity but he turned it down. Not everybody is interested in a move that would guarantee trophies. But I agree it would have been nice to win the title with Castle

As a lifelong Man United fan I still get stick to this day because Shearer is and always will be my favourite player! Euro 96 will always be one of the best months I’ve ever had and Shearer made it that way. As a young 18 year old lad at that time I idolised him! And even when he didn’t join united I still saw him as the best in the business! I’ve always had a soft spot For Newcastle since and cheered every goal Alan scored. When the song rang out at O.T cheer up Alan Shearer I was the one united fan who never joined in! Legend of a player the best centre forward I’ve ever seen! #9legend

I was 9 when we signed Shearer n I remember being at St James’ with my dad when he came out onto that balcony, it was magic it really was, i idolised this man growing up like so many and this video brought so many wonderful memories flooding back! Excellent video 👍

He was a class striker in the 90s, but he would have struggled in modern football. All his goals was first touch shots due to missing marking on him. Todays defenders is better at both marking and positioning. He would have to either outrun or dribble past defenders. He had non of those qualities
