Alan Wake remastered and Control is on a deep sale rn, for anyone interested. I bought Wake and begin playing tonight, who knows maybe I can finish by Friday. If I go 100% I doubt it, if I go only main story I might. I want to get Control while on sale too, but I'm gonna see how I like Wake first.

I played Alan Wake for the first time recently and apart from a few pretty over the top moments, I didn't love it. Control, on the other hand, is one of my favorite games and has one of the best video game set piece sequences of all time.

You’ll be able to finish the whole story in a reasonable time, but to 100% the game in terms of trophies, I took over 30 hours. I’m also counting multiple plays of the main game and DLCs

same. i gave up many years ago after american nightmare came out. seems they were trying to capitalize on the real game's popularity with what was at best, DLC, and calling it a sequel. I hope this one doesn't let down. Alan Wake was one of my favorite horror games of all time

Another factor is disc space. Yes everyone wants their 4k HQ textures and god like lighting, however there's only so much data you can compress before that takes a major hit on the quality and fidelity of a game. Most modern triple AAA games that are available on disc are simply activation codes so the game can be downloaded from the xbox, playstation, and/or windows store. Hence why games are so massive nowadays.

Not just high requirements - the game supposedly uses new shader tech that basically locks out any GPU before the 20xx series from Nvidia or the 5000 series from AMD.

yes it is very good. but dont play alan wake 2 if you didnt play 1 or some parts are influenced by the prequel Control which is connected as they are one universe. this is a Sequel so you wont actually understand what is the game about or story about if you didnt play Alan Wake 1 and its DLC. as well as Control tbh.

Embargo is the 26th, and seeing as they mostly advertised/demonstrated the game on PS5, I would assume it probably runs fine.

Most of the footage is running on PS5 and Series X, they focused on console. Rock-solid 30fps in fidelity mode according to one of the devs, thats the mode all the QA testing went into. There is a "solid" performance mode but it sacrifices visual quality.

How many times do games need to launch glitchy for us to at least allow ourselves some healthy scepticism? Even Control launched with notable issues that were fairly quickly patched. Quantum Break was far from flawless. Curated previews and glossy trailers rule, but reviews do exist for a reason. I want to see some reviews and watch Digital Foundry's analysis, preferably a few days before the release. Is that so bad?

What are you basing this on? I'm sure you'll be able to play it at 1080p with DLSS on your gpu. You might have to play it on low, but graphics settings are arbitrary - it might look better than most games even at low. Best to wait for performance reviews, but don't write it off just like that.

A 2070 super will be able to run it at 1080p Where did you get that info from? The requirement sheet says 1080p 30 on low is what a 2060 can deliver and a 2070 super is quite a bit more powerful than a 2060 so I'd imagine with DLSS on quality or medium you could hit 60 in some capacity Saying that pre-release is bold I know but recommended specs are dubious at the best of times

It might be an earlier version issue with Alex Casey's walk, as Saga's animations seem to be more correct on the stairs.

Hated the first Alan Wake. I did complete it hoping it would click at some point during the story seeing how everyone was ranting and raving about how great it was. Made the mistake of buying Control as well, but with that game I ignored all the positive talk and just stopped playing when I realised I didn't like anything about that game either. Here's to hoping Alan Wake 2 will be the first game from Remedy I actually manage to skip completely.

Alan Wake was one of those games you either loved or hated. It was far more about atmosphere and story than game play. I personally loved it. Although the 2nd one, "American Nightmare" being sold as a sequel and not just DLC was a farce. I'm hoping the 2nd one follows the story/atmosphere lead the ones of us who loved it, enjoyed.

I wound't be worried. Nobody's gonna buy the game if they don't know it exists. Remedy hasn't had a real hit since Max Payne days. Hopefully this will sell well even if the release window is quite crowded, to say the least.
