If you liked Robocop you should check out Terminator Resistance from the same developer. Its a hidden gem and like Robocop is way better than you're expecting. It does the same thing where you have your action bits and then your down time back at base with the games story beats.

I was just about to mention this game myself. I don't know if it's on GamePass but it definitely took me a while to find a physical copy for the Playstation 4. It definitely seems like an uncommon game to find physically.

It's on Steam and an enhanced version was just released on the Xbox Series X/S in October so it shouldn't be that hard to find if she wants to play it.

Same. That first musical sequence in the Dark Place has become my favorite moment in gaming history. I would still say the Ashtray Maze from Control had better gameplay, but the emotional heft of the musical was... well, I still go around watching real plays from youtubers of this scene, just to see the shocked combination of "what the hell is this???" and "this is the greatest thing I've ever seen".

Going back to Hollow Knight doesn't mean you have a problem. It means you enjoy good games. For an indie game, Hollow Knight stands up to some of the best games that big studios have been releasing the last few years. Great video as always Pam!

Alan Wake 2 was a dream come true. Apparently it didn't sell that well, lots of people either passed on it or are waiting to play it. I can't imagine a world where it doesn't have longevity as a cult hit, and sell well over time. People should want to play a game just as important to the survival horror genre as Silent Hill 2.

Fair enough, but you know, Epic has been adopting better practices than steam in a lot of ways, such as paying devs more for sales. They invested in Alan Wake 2 when nobody else would. The platform itself may need improvement but I feel like the hate is a bit much. @@scullyy

Quest for Glory 1 was my very first PC RPG/adventure game, and it set a very high bar. For such an old game, it sure has elements in it that many/most current RPGs don't attempt (Baldur's Gate 3 is a notable standout). Looking forward to your best of 2023! All the best! Take care!

Happy New Year, Pam! Great to hear your take on Alan Wake 2. That was definitely in the top of my games of 2023. I am super excited for The Lost Crown. Been awhile since I dove into a good Metroidvania and really looking forward to it. December for me was almost entirely devoted to Cyberpunk 2077. I played through it on PS5 for the platinum and then switched over to Series X for Phantom Liberty (already had 100% on Xbox). As much as I loved that game at launch it is even better now! 170ish hours was the total play through including all base game and Phantom Liberty endings and I never once got tired of it.

I know what you mean about Hollow Knight. Blasphemous has been that game for me. It’s so satisfying to play and the world is so engrossing. I treated myself to Blasphemous 2 for Christmas and have yet to start playing it! I always feel like starting yet another true torment play of the first game before cracking open the sequel. Very much looking forward to PoP: The Lost Crown too. Also, yay for Quest for Glory! Congrats on the growth of the channel and all the best for 2024!

Great video and quality choice of games you picked. Over Christmas I played Quantum Break and despite being buggy and clunky was highly impressed and enjoyed it. Then I went old school and got every trophy for Canis Canem - Bully now playing Dying Light 1 after trying to start playing twice previously and bouncing away the third it’s drawn me in and now enjoying it! Hey, Pam! On the Metroidvania topic, I'd like to suggest Unsighted. It is a different approach to combat and overall feeling of progression through a metroidvania without losing key elements of the genre. The story is very interesting on how they executed the sense of urgency (absolutely any character may die depending on your choice and progression/completion) and it was produced by a studio from my country. I checked if you reviewed this game before, it is from 2021, as far as I know I don't think you did. Well, it may be a great option if you feel like me, both embarassed and compelled to finish Hollow Knight yet again. (I mean, it's not our fault, Silksong is yet to come anyway...)

Not really doing a lot of gaming this month. I have been refurbishing Dell Optiplexs as gaming PC's and selling them. I sold my last one a few days ago. Today I put a 750watt PSU in my gaming PC to replace the 650watt one. I bought an RTX 4070 and wanted extra power. Thirsty suitors is my goty! BG3 is a close second. TS was just marvelously written, and oozed charm and life joy and creativity and struck personsl chords when it came to the themes and story. Much recommended.

AW2 was incredible in every way. They put a lot of work and production into that game and it shows. However, it felt like it got a little long-winded three quarters of the way through; as if they decided to unnecessarily pad the game to make it longer

Preordered it on August 29th, 2021, and it was delivered on December 29th, 2023! ;P Even though it includes the "Broforce Forever" update, this was far worse a wait than anything I've waited for from Limited Run, and unlike most of LR's releases I've purchased, I feel like this was not worth the wait. No coupons for waiting this long? No extras, like a free download of the soundtrack? What a waste. Ugh. Last year I discovered there's a big Blasphemous community in Mexico, probably because the main religion here is Catholicism, and even us atheists were taught under the principles of that branch of Christianity. I've been working on my Steam backlog most of the month, and a large portion of that was playing Omori. I did also play through The Almost Gone and Monument Valley, which are pretty interesting puzzle-centered games; Monument Valley was a perfectly meditative experience for winter sunsets. I also played Zelda 2: Paracosm, which was great, but comes with the caveat that I'm one of the twelve people who love Zelda 2.

You can definitely 100% Hollow Knight in less than 20 hrs if you just did it in a little over that. I just finished doing all the speed run achievements in HK getting a first ending in a little over 3 hours and taking 8 hours to 100% it. It didn’t require any speed running tricks or sequence breaks. Just have a plan and go with it! The only achievements I have left in that game are the steel soul ones and the fifth pantheon.

Dude, if you have fun playing HOLLOW KNIGHT play until the wheels fall off! That’s what it’s all about. I think you have distinguishing tastes so be happy when you find a game you want to play over and over again. I’m happy for you. I’m playing SUPER MARIO BROS. WONDER and it charmed me. It’s my game of the year. Graphics and music are fine, but it was just a ton of fun to play. Online play is nice. You get a leg up from fellow players. Kinda reminds me of SHREDDER’S REVENGE in that regard.

I think the only real reason to play a warrior in QfG is if you intend to go the Paladin route at the end of the second game. Love that series though. QfG is probably my favorite, Mordavia was fantastic, and the voice talent was exceptional, especially for the time. Shame it ended on kind of a meh note in the fifth game.

I replayed my favourite game The Binding of Isaac: Repentance... Or wait, I did halfway through, before my saves were bugged and destroyed. Sigh. But, I played a LOT of it anyway. It's so good! Also played some Noita, Mindustry, and AM2R. 😌 Pam, if your haven't tried AM2R, do it! What it is is just a Google away. It's fantastic!

I think the prince of persia should of had the orignal pixel art instead of the 00s style. It probably would make it sell more as pixel art is somewhat a selling point of the games. There is just something amazing with a really good pixel art and it could look amazing if they did it or maybe had an unlockable skin or pay 5-10 dollars for that type of skin or beat the game to unlock it.

@@Cannotbetamed1 It looks like Sands of time but in 2d. with a new haircut It isn't about price. It just looks and feels like a game that I have played before. I feel like they are just playing it safe and not taking a chance and make something special and an ode to anything. I think I am going to have to make my own game to show what is possible and innovate because I am not seeing the genre really grow or make something new, unique or beautiful that I can see in any other game. I can play Sands of Time and it revolutionized platformers. Prince of Persia 2 was fun and unique and it had passion as it knew how to make you feel in the game. I need to go ahead and design my own game cause either I am not being marketed these games or I am not finding them.

You have a problem with replaying Hollow Knight like I have with Broforce. I'm currently working on my....I've honestly lost count...playthrough of the game. It's the first (and only) game I've actually wanted to complete to 100%. Unfortunately the only trophy left for it is to complete "Ironbro" mode, which is single player only and one life per "bro". Not to mention that mode stops giving you free lives about 3/4's of the way through. So unless you're super careful it's game over a lot quicker.

Hey I'm glad you like El Paso elsewhere I finished that I think at the end of November. Did dig the soundtrack I'm going to have to check out thirsty suitors I think I bought that by accident but I still wanted to play it I'm still fighting my backlog I recently finished hi-fi rush Good game I just kind of fell off in the middle Great opening great ending and I'm not too good at rhythm games. I agree with what everyone else is saying that like Robocop and Terminator resistance a kind of like good but watered down Bethesda esqus games so I'll throw this out there for you That's a good idea for a video like the kids of Bethesda you got those two then you got like the forgotten City and Choo Choo Charles because why not? I don't know if you'd count outer worlds but I feel like there's a good video essay somewhere in there oh well take it easy
