Amazing to think I already realized and tested this, albeit some of it inspired by ideas I found elsewhere... yet this awesome man who died 30 years before my current body was even born said it so perfectly. I know this is at least part of the truth, and understanding it is a huge leap forward. Only annoying thing is that in a dream within this dream, you wake up or are no longer limited once you realize you're dreaming... not sure why this bizarre construct still goes on even when you realize it's not even real and it's all some bad joke.

@ I think actually that its real but we need to realize we would never have wanted it to be any different than it is - how absurd that even might sound: yet Alan is making that very case and strongly. I myself would like to throw in determinism meaning that everything happening had to happen anyway (so you cant be blamed for anything in the end) and it was vital to happen to preserve the universe as it is (so the stupidest thing you did had to happen!) and will always be a building block in that very universe (so you and anything else never can be forgotten).

There were 2 very different sides to Alan Watts, that you should know: 1. There was the enlightened side that gave amazing insight to the subconscious, higher self, and thinking mind. 2. Then there was the darkness that was eating him up from the inside. He turned to alcohol to quiet his demons, and was an alcoholic. He had so many problems with his interpersonal relationships. (If you even watch him talking about his personal life, it was a complete mess...)
@WiaraTV3 күн бұрын
@@jer103 That's the essence of his teachings. The Tao. Yin Yang. The balance of opposites.
@jer1033 күн бұрын
@@WiaraTV That wasn't the point I was trying to make. Many videos just focus on the positive sides of his life. How he saw things through God's eyes. However, you also have to see the monster he also was, and the pain he repressed. You have to see him as a whole, not just one side of him that a video wants you to see.

@@jer103 Monster? Did he kill anyone? Steal? Rape? So he was troubled and relationships didn't work out (and possibly in that sense he treated a partner badly?) And he possibly committed suicide in the end? And this in your view makes him a "monster"? WOW!
@jer1033 күн бұрын
@thebaryonacousticoscillati5679 He was a monster to certain people close to him. It's not something you might not know, or realize, he was. Also, there are many different types of monsters, not just the few types you just listed.

The bad news is that this reality is not likely to be any sort of dream. Dreams are dreams. When you wake up from a dream then the dream ends and you're not dreaming anymore.

He's saying that basically how do you know your problems are "real", as you say, here in reality. What if you are actually extremely powerful? and have tricked yourself into dreaming up your life situation here in "reality", which as it turns out is just the problems you are fixated upon..

I never play with godmode on in a video game for very long. Turns out, taking all the challenge out of the game makes it unbearably boring and meaningless. I’ve wondered if God didn’t have the same problem. Realising this possibility taught me the inanity of chasing Heaven/perfection (I would hate it if I found it) and how to see beauty and love in death, disease, and the decadence of the world. The Devil is not God’s enemy but partner in creation.

Nonsense. Make-believe stuff fit for the head of a child as he’s lying in bed contemplating existence. There is only one way to get at ultimate truth friends, and it’s not this man’s words, nor mine, nor any other person’s. Sad to think the Bible so ignored and laughed at and scorned. The one who is actually omnipotent and who is actually omnipresent has revealed himself there. And there only. If that’s not good enough, I don’t know what to say to you.

You're the only judge for yourself. Unless you believe something for the sole reason that someone else taught you this way and not that way - which wouldn't make sense - you can only judge by what you yourself recognize as true. How can you recognize the truth? You can recognize it because you hold it within yourself. Nobody taught the apostles to drop everything and follow Jesus. They simply recognized him. They unknowingly expected him. He didn't coerce them or exercise any authority upon them. The authority and resolve comes from within.
