First Five Days in the Philippines

from when I stepped off the plane this is just my observations over the first few days here in mindanao, Philippines

Well, Alan you have put me off the Philippines as a holiday destination. The abundance of Tuk Tuks leaves me to conclude that the Philippines have not signed up to NET ZERO anytime soon! Lucky them. Labour must be cheap there if you have a personal guy taking your shopping out. Anyway, a fascinating travelogue. You are a replacement for David Attenborough, in the making.

Alan! You don't have to leave the country after 30 days... that's an expensive way of extending your stay.... So if you have a 30 day visa... you need to visit an Immigration Bureau... the one I visited was in Manila but I am sure a big city like Davao will have one... you need to visit them at least 7 days before you current visa expires... and you can then get an extension of 29 days... so that will allow you to stay 59 days... then seven days before that expires again you can visit and extend your visa... this time they will let you extend for 6 months. Sadly after that time you do need to leave the country for a brief period... and then pop back... but you don't have to leave after 30 days... that is crazy.... Best wishes on your Philippine adventure!!!

I went last year to see my partner in tuban mabalacat, its definitely a different world ,was there for a month, and carnt wait to get back ,hopefully before end of this year, and planning to stay as long as can renew my Visa, enjoy your time there 😁

Why did she lie to you, straight off the bat? Trying to save face? Tell her to be honest. If you're ages away in traffic, plan for this and leave earlier, or at least don't lie and say you're a few minutes away. There would have been google maps telling her the ETA

You've obviously never be in those sort of countries. Sometimes it take 2 mins to drive a couple of streets, sometimes it takes 2 hours of gridlock to drive the same distance.

Even my philipina wife here in Australia after being here for over many years still takes all day in the supermarket sorting out the fruit checking used by dates it drives me crazy , i just put it in the trolly straight out the door she checks it when i get home .
