I’ve been in love with your videos and your family since I watched the first video. Your videos are a relief of hard times everyday life can bring on. I’ve been obsessed with surfing for a long time but have never gotten the chance to actually do it and I’m fighting to get to do it as soon as possible (medical stuff has been a really bummer the past few years so the opportunity to do it wasn’t realistic) Seeing you two just have fun and a good time despite the outcome of the contest is really inspiring to me of how you just surf because you love it and a place in a competition doesn’t define your passion for this sport. You know how your feet feel walking on really hot sand mid-summer? Thats how my eyes feel watching your videos. They burn from the heat of how hot you both are. And yet, you’re completely grounded, dedicated people. You spend hours sourcing organic produce and making healthy, protein-rich vegan meals for each other, and your baby shark. You train hard, push the limits of surfing, and haven’t edited out the losses. It would be so easy to romanticize the life of two (really hot) pro surfers, traveling the world with their adorable baby and really good bodies. But it’s raw and real and doesn’t look easy. You inspire me, and everyone who watches this channel. I have been studying in a cold, land-locked city for the past 4 months and watching this series satiates the homesickness I feel for the beach and my board. I've been starting to learn how to surf these past years (in Argentina) and started following you guys since I wanted to keep motivated and learn a little more about surfing and the surfing world ... But I found so much more than that!!! You guys are opening up your lives in the most honest, relatable, spontaneous, and inspiring way. Happy waves is literally my favourite series on KZbin and it’s hard to put it into words 🤤🤤🤤 I’m in love with baby banks and froth on the good content and vibes! And I FROTHHHH on the pyzels you guys ride!! My favorite part about Happy Waves would have to be the happy vibes that the viewers like myself feel when we watch the lives of Jack, Alana, and Banks. I love how Jack and Alana show the personal parts of their lives along with surfing. There are countless videos of surfing on KZbin, which is amazing too no complaining here. It’s wonderful that you inspire people and share good emotions with them every week, the atmosphere of family cosiness and warmth. These things are probably the most valuable for me on the channel, although I adore surfing of course! Secondly, that’s great, that people could see that it’s real to turn your favourite occupation to the way of life. I love happy waves because Alana without knowing it you helped change my life. I was bed bound for 10 years from the age of 14 due to now known celiac disease. Doctors were unable to help me as they had no idea what was wrong. After watching you on Network A in 2014 I changed up my diet and really focused hard on nurturing my body, something I think you and Jack do so well. Had I not watched those episodes back then I may never have gained my life back. I love Happy Waves because you guys project such a positive message to people all over the world. Finally the perfect opportunity to let you all know how much you mean to me. Recently you have impacted my life on many levels. Way back in 2011 Alana was my favorite female surfer. Everything she did just flowed. It was impossible not to like her. Jack was always fun to watch in competitions well. I admit Machado was always my favorite male but he had left the comp scene so I enjoyed watching the other guys like Jack. Flash forward to recent years and I had got caught in a more serious college lifestyle. I had been rarely surfing and was becoming overall unhealthy. I was focusing on work and not play. I then saw an article on y'all and clicked it in a "oh I remember them" sort of way. As the memories poured in I went from article to article eventually leading to youtube. I was instantly hooked. The healthy lives you are living influenced me to go out and dust off the old surfboard and start enjoying life again. This brought me much happiness but it gets even deeper. I also decided to get back into yoga and decided to try a plant based diet. It has been an amazing decision and I feel healthier and more energetic every day! I really must say thank you as you have reminded me how important it is to enjoy life and take care of the body that is taking me through it. My boyfriend and I got in a bad motorbike accident in January while we were on a surf trip in Indonesia. The accident left us both severely injured and hospitalized for nearly a month, after which we were Medevac'd back to Canada to continue rehabbing our injuries. Luckily, we're expected to make a full recovery :) Watching Happy Waves not only brings me joy, but it encourages me to get back in shape and back in the waves -- hopefully this summer!. Hi guys, I have been following your journey for a couple of years now (before Banks was born) and I find you all so inspiring. How you manage to keep that balance between family time and travelling/working is seriously something to look up to. I personally surf, and I want to have a family just like yours in the near future. Me and my boyfriend love watching happy waves because they’re so genuine! It doesn’t seem like the videos have much editing too them, it’s real life day to day stuff and I admire their lifestyle! I can image it isn’t easy juggling their professional careers and a youngin! But they do it well and they include Banks in everything they do! Happy waves is the ultimate mini series to grab inspiration from. I have been watching and looking up to Alana ever since I was a little girl. Her passion after what she loves is something I honor greatly. I love watching your videos and all the fun updates on Banks- he is truly the cutest!!! Although I don’t live near a close by beach, when we visit beaches i’m always wanting to get out on the water, but I have never had the board to do so and quite honestly have never been in the proper position to buy one either. Alana, Jack and Banks: Before I say anything, thank you guys SO much for sharing your family with us all and giving us an intimate look into what it’s like to be two pro surfers with a beautiful baby. I absolutely love HAPPY WAVES and get excited when I get a notification that a new epi has been posted, it adds just a little more joy to my day! My boyfriend and I just started our little family not too long ago too; our son is 18 months old now 🥰 so it has been so fun to be able to see how you two are experiencing family life too. I admit, I give you two mad props for being able to balance work life, surf life, and baby life all the while being healthy and eating healthy too. The amount of love and support you three have is so special. I think the parts of your guys’ episodes of Jack having to leave or Alana having to leave for work really gives us, as an audience, an intimate look into how being a pro surfer and a parent has its difficulties too. Not only do I love seeing you guys be parents but also really appreciate the little snippets of Alana’s grocery’s and smoothies! As I have come to find out myself being vegan can be difficult when you have a child but it has been so great that our son is also enjoying vegan food as well. HAPPY WAVES is so inspiring to me because it has been a life time dream of mine to hit the beach and surf with my family. I lived in Waipahu for a couple months as a teenager and have the fondest memories at the beach surfing and cruising. I just took my family to Oahu for the first time and my boyfriend had the time of his life body surfing Waimea Bay and our son Calvin found the sand super interesting but it really rekindled the desire to want to surf again! Alana you are such an inspiration to me, you and Bethany got me into surfing when I was younger, after watching soul surfer my which was my favourite movie and still is i started surfing and haven’t stoped since. Hi! :) I love happy waves because every new episode give me a little boost of sincere happines and fulfilment that surfing always brings to me, just by watching you guys. Living 2000 km from the proper spot in the waveless country, without a thing that brings you so much joy can sometimes get frustrating. Always counting down the days, daydreaming, working and saving for trips seems odd to most people. But these are my dreams-to live and raise my family around the ocean and you guys are keeping them alive. Thank you. Hi Alana and Jack! My boyfriend and I both love watching your videos. He's been surfing since he could pretty much walk, and I've always had an interest in surfing (just no one to teach me just yet!). I love learning more about surfing from you guys and though watching your videos. Also, what your cute little surfer family is like, is exactly like what me and my boyfriend want one day in the future. We're currently doing long distance, since he's in the Air Force but, Happy Days is one of the things that help both of us get through the rough times of being apart because we just get to imagine what life will finally be when we're together again for good and what our future will look like with surfer babies and just loving life together. Hey guys. I think it's so cool and inspiring to see how two professional surfers can have a child and still focus on their careers. So many other surfers that have children have one parent that can focus on the kids when the CT or other events are going on, but you two are able to do it all while both traveling for events and video parts.
