So the whole name thing, Maomao's name is 猫猫 which is just the kanji for cat 猫 written twice. In Japanese, 猫 is read as Neko while in Chinese, it's read as Mao. That's also why during S1, Maomao was drawn as a cat. Also Maomao the cat is written with the kanji 毛 for hair but is reapeated twice to mean Fluffy 毛毛 Last but not least, Xiao 小 means small, so Xiaomao 小猫 means kitten.

The first ep was sooooo cute! Loved the animation ugh I need more! Presumably season 2 will cover the events of the light novel volumes 3 and 4 since season 1 was volumes 1 and 2, and as someone who is fully caught up on the novels im sooooo excited for this season bc 3 and 4 are some of my favorites of the whole series! You can expect things to really pop off just like in season 1~~

Novels being "lowly" to my understanding was a thing at least in Japan for a bit. Fiction was something court women kind of did to kill time, and there were periods hwere it was considered outright amoral since technically writing fiction is "lying". I remember in college seeing some art depicting the author of Tales of Genji as being in hell for writing it, for example. I can see it in the case of the stuff as reading being for like "proper" stuff like history, reports, or peotry. Not sure if that's why in the end, but "Fiction is for the plebs" feels like the situation.

I wonder does Lady Lihua have 5 or 6 Ladies in Waiting. I noticed in preview episode 1 that a Lady Lihua Lady in Waiting appeared but looking back at Season 1 did recall seeing her in Episode 4, I do recall a Lady in Waiting throwing Maomao’s message about poison makeup away she wore a necklace as did the Lady in Waiting (LiW) in the preview. Elsewhere e.g., Lady Lihua had 9 LiW in Garden Party Episode though none had the necklace. Finally, Lady Loulan had 19 LiW as noted by Jinshi. Given the attention to detail demonstrated in Season 1 something going on??
