I loved that he was confused as to why the red blood cell was lost, because there's actually an explanation to that.! Our particular red blood cell-chan has a fun little detail of the hair curl (cow lick) in her character design. It's actually a cute little clue that she's actually a sickle cell, which explains why she gets lost so easily.
@BrooklyKnight
@BrooklyKnight Жыл бұрын
That's actually been proven to not be the case-the reason seems to be more that the naming on her hat suggests she has a trait that makes her less efficient at transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body.

@@BrooklyKnight But sickle cells are inefficient in transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide as well?
@BrooklyKnight
@BrooklyKnight Жыл бұрын
@@thephantom7578 Yes, that's correct as well. What I'm saying is that even though that is the case, she's not a sickle cell according to the creator. She just has a cowlick.
@RuchiwanChut-pg2hx
@RuchiwanChut-pg2hx Жыл бұрын
The creator didn’t know what he was talking about, but thankfully the animators or some where in the creators subconscious, the hair clue made it into the design to clue the audience to what she really is. That way both the creator lame excuse “she just a normal inexperienced red blood cell” is satisfied but at the same time, the audience understands why she really is the way she is.
@ItsChuckShirley
@ItsChuckShirley Жыл бұрын
No no, she's not a sickle cell. That cowlick(also known as 'id i ot' hair) is a rather popular anime trope. When a character has a cowlick, it means that he/she/they are an airhead, uh an absent-minded person, or (in humorous term) an id i ot. That's why she got lost a lot, because she's an airhead, not a sickle cell. I know that seems kinda mean to us westerners, but it is considered pretty humorous(in a benign way) in eastern media. Check TVTropes:Id i ot Hair for good explanation. EDIT: sorry about the spacing, KZbin is in their time of the month apparently.

If you're looking at a blood smear (used to perform a CBC) then white blood cells>red cells>platelets. So the heights of the characters are actually proportional to their real sizes. A fun fact: his code number is actually a pun. 1146 in Japanese is Ichi-Ichi-Shi-Roku. Condensed, it is i-i-shi-ro. "I-I-Shi-Ro" also means "good white"; being that he is one of the two protagonists, it is fitting.

Dunno if you noticed, but there’s this fantastic detail about the red blood cells’ outfits. When they’re delivering oxygen to the body, their jackets are bright red with dark sleeves, but when they’re delivering CO2 to the lungs, they have turned their jackets inside out, so they are a darker (you could almost say desaturated) shade of red! They also deliver oxygen in a package of four tanks per box, a nice little reference to the composition of hemoglobin. Obviously an actual red blood cell carries an absolutely massive amount of oxygen, being little more than a tiny sack just filled with hemoglobin, but it’s still a very nice visual representation of their functions!

The cancer episode (part 2) is ironic in this show's dub because the VA of our main White Blood Cell passed away from colon cancer, and the character talks to the cancer cell as it dies. That haunts me in my sleep, knowing he most likely was going through treatments while dubbing the show, and that he lost his war to something so tiny but massive.

Eloise A Disney Nerd I personally disagree. With subtitles I’m less likely to be able to be actually watch the animation. I have to get through all the subtitles first and then look at what’s happening which when something has amazing animation is annoying. I’ll watch both at times and there are dubs that don’t really do it for me but more often than not watching the English dub is preferred for me. It’s easier to binge and I’m not sure where you’ve had mouth movement issues. Also on car trips reading makes me feel nauseous. 😅

@@BettyMareeHOHCountry While I will watch subbed. I do prefer dubbed as I'm a pretty slow reader and have to read things 2 or 3 times on occasion due to me reading it wrong the first time. One time in an online game someone said something about their marriage and I thought they said miscarriage. I'm sure there's a medical reason for that. But anyway, it makes watching subs harder cause I don't get to see the animation as much.

One of the other things that I think is really interesting about this show is that you’ll notice whenever the red blood cells are in an artery, their jacket is bright red with a dark red trim, but when they’re in a vein, the jacket is dark red with a bright red trim, an obvious nod to the fact that deoxygenated blood is darker.
