Oh my gosh you provide a great and simple explanation! I have never used any of the angle marks on my cutting mat. This was great - you answered all my questions!

Oh my goodness, I've watched half a dozen video's on 60* triangle cutting and this is by far the best and most effective I have seen! Very calming, by now my blood pressures up :) Thank you so very much Alanda, and for the tip about adding back in the quarter inch before taking that first cut.

Thank you for making this video! I have all my triangles cut out for a quilt that's laid out similar to the table runner here, and after sewing my first row together, realized the triangle tips weren't going to turn out nice and sharp when it's all assembled. I watched some other tutorials on how to do it, but this was really helpful in visualizing what I needed to fix to get it to work. Really super clear and helpful.

Your video explains this part better than any I've seen so far. Your instruction is great, but what I don't understand still is how to get the other part of the triangle 3", or does a 6" automatically have the smaller end of the triangle shorter?

Hi, when do you cut the dog ears? Or do I not need to? Thanks for this--it's really helpful!
@alandacraft7 жыл бұрын
I leave the dog ears on until I have sewn the triangles together. It helps to line up the seams. But once the triangles have been sewn together the dog ears are not needed so you can trim them then. Or you can leave it until you have sewn all the triangles together. But you will want to trim them before adding the sashing.

@tnt9238 Жыл бұрын
How do you determine the size of the triangle? I’m guessing it’s by the width of the strip? When you are using your mat to cut….do you add the 1/4”?
@alandacraft Жыл бұрын
Decide on what you want the finished size of your triangle to be. So if you want a triangle with a finished size of 5 ½" cut the fabric strip 6" wide.

great tutorial. I still struggle with getting those bias sides sewn together so they line up when opened. I have ripped out so many, I'm about to throw out the whole project. I cannot figure out what I am doing incorrectly. I line them up just like you show. The first two go together fine, but then adding on the rest is where it just starts going awry !!! yikes.

What if your pattern is facing the wrong way to cut for your selvages/bias edges
@alandacraft3 жыл бұрын
You will need to be careful sewing the pieces together as the edges will be more likely to stretch, Joanne. I suggest you pin well.
