I used to use a long arm that I rented from a friend to do my Quilting with. I recently learned how to use my embroidery machine to do edge to edge quilting with beautiful designs. You might want to check out how to do that because it’s a lot cheaper than having to buy a long arm and it is so easy to do and the quilts turn out beautifully. I just found your channel and I love the table runner that you just made.

I love piecing my blocks individually, my choice of quilting is “Quilting As You Go”. There are tons of tutorial videos on you tube. It saves me a lot of money. Hope this helps especially if you do not have an embroidery machine.

Thank you for this tutorial. I really liked how you trimmed the edges with the larger part of the ruler on the fabric. I've seen so many quilters place the ruler on the mat with just a tiny bit on the fabric. I always think that it might not be truly on grain. Maybe they don't want to have to turn the fabric. Your directions are so thoughtful and clear. Great video!

I would have wrapped the back around as a binding, using 1 and 1/2 inch allowance to fold over twice. Much simpler and a glue stick makes it even easier to iron the binding down before stitching. It’s also stronger since it is part of the back fabric and there are less seams to fray or unravel.
@alandacraft3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the suggestion Claire 😊. I haven't tried finishing off a quilt using that method so I will give it a go in the future.

Thank you for your lovely comment Linda 😊. The stained glass window effect was made on our embroidery machine. Here is the link to the tutorial on how it was created in Embird: www.alandacraft.com/2014/10/24/embird-studio-tutorial-stained-glass-patchwork-square-digitize-the-design/. I don't have a full tutorial on making the pin cushion. I just took the piece that I created, added a backing and stuffed it with fibre fill. Here is the link to the stitch out www.alandacraft.com/2014/10/24/embird-studio-tutorial-stained-glass-patchwork-square-part-1-stitchout/. I will put making a pin cushion on the to do list.

I noticed your fabrics are nondirectional. Is that important for this lovely runner?
@alandacraft2 ай бұрын
I personally think it works best with non-directional. As the strips get turned around you could end up with some patterns upside down. If that's not an issue for you then by all means use what you have on hand.

@irene31962 ай бұрын
Hi Rebecca. The pattern is more or less there on the video. Alanda gives the measurements and shows the fabric being cut on her mat and it's easy to follow. An actual printed pattern isn't really needed when all this information is on the video. It looks like a very nice table runner and I'll be making a couple myself. Good luck with yours.

I like to trim the batting and the top piece before using the backing as a self trim as well. Is that cheating? I just have a hard time with small edging. I guess it's my inexperience, but it seems to work. Thank you for this video. I've gone Christmas crazy, I'm afraid, so this will help me use up a lot of my fabric!
@alandacraft3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the suggestion Patricia 😊. lol, no it's not cheating. This method is not something I have tried as yet. It's never too early to start making gifts for Christmas especially when the year flies by as quickly as this one has.
