I love this method! It’s been many years since I made any kind of quilt at all, but I know I could do this because of your great video. Just one question, when stitching in the ditch on each row did you say you turn the quilt after finishing one row and go in the other direction for the next row? Thank you for the great tutorial 😊
@alandacraft
@alandacraft 5 күн бұрын
Yes that's exactly what we did. We turn the quilt around on each row and that helps to stop the quilt from bunching up on one side.

I love your video clear concise, and you really give it that wonderful extra tip at the end where you say when you’re stitching in the ditch turn it around so it doesn’t punch up and you’re right it does if you don’t do that thanks❤😊

Perfect and then you can actually practice free motion inside these strips, skip stressing about binding and practice free motion. 😊🎉. Thank you for all your content and inspiration.

Simple and lovely! This is the same method I use for making charity lap quilts. One difference is that I find stitch in the ditch too frustrating to stay close to the seam, so I use a serpentine stitch (which I lengthen and widen a bit). The result is the same, but it doesn't matter if I stray from the seam line.

Thanks for showing this simple quilt. I love the blend of pastel pinks and blues together. This is a great beginner quilt or when you're short on time. If you're like me and have trouble staying "in the ditch" then stitch a ¼" either side of the seam. Use a variegated thread to add a little bling to the stitching. This is also the perfect quilt to use all of those fancy stitches you never use on your machine. Set them to a moderately large size and sew them down the center of your seam lines. You'll add interest to the quilt top and you're reinforcing the seams at the same time...great for kids quilts or those that will get heavy use and frequent washing.

This is a very cute quilt that can be made quickly. To make the quilting easier and quicker, instead of using in the ditch - try lengthening your zig zag stitch to make a curved line. It looks great and you don’t have to worry about staying in the ditch.
