This is it! The one I would happily make for the rest of my quilting days. Also, it's pretty fun! Have you ever tried a mini trip around the world?

For quilters pressing is very important for a good finished quilt. More emphasis on pressing the seams and which way they are pressed should be given for good results without twisted seams.

This quilt block is also the steps in making a Bargello quilt.

Yes, the difference is the bargello strips change in width whereas the trip around the world strips are all in the same size.

If I use 2 1/2" strips, how long should I cut them? I would like to know the ratio between strip width and length. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
@giovannacasadio96003 ай бұрын
I think 15 inches would be the correct way, she cut them 9 inches for 1.5 inches so that is 1.5 x6 = 9 so 2.5 x 6 = 15. I hope that will help you.
@seweasybysandy3 ай бұрын
Hi. So if you use 5 2.5 inch strips and sew them together you need to remove the seam allowance, which mine is 1/4inch per strip, so 2 inches off. So you would get a 10.5 inch square. If it were 6 strips, it would be 2.5inch seam allowance, so 12.5 inch square and so on.

How do you go about actually quilting this? Do you use your machine? Do you quilt by hand? Or do you use a long-arm quilter? I'm just getting to know my free motion quilting feature of my machine, and it's a pretty tricky skill to learn!
@seweasybysandy3 ай бұрын
If I were to quilt it I would either use super simple straight lines or free motion quilting. Or maybe do quilt as you go so you wouldn't have any visible lines.

Do you recommend pre washing fabric before cutting and sewing?
@seweasybysandy3 күн бұрын
Hi. I personally don't do it, but sometimes I should because I get a lot of allergies hehehe. It's a matter od personal taste I think.

Can you use a layer cake for this?

Of course, depending on the size you want you can cut it in half and use big pieces or cut it in 6 for smaller ones.
