This woman is so cool. She is literally everything!

When Jagged Little Pill came out, it literally changed my life……. Now that I’m older, I hear the messages in her music much louder and clearer than I did when I was younger. She’s profound in ways that words can’t describe.
@MereAYT2 жыл бұрын
If words could describe the profundity, she would be the one capable of phrasing it perfectly.

I remember the first time I saw her. It was at a festival in the late 90s, I was in my teens, we were back at the concert site early after a night of partying at the campsite. I never heard of Alanis before and everyone was just there to sit on the grass, maybe have a first beer, relax and talk. Then this girl or woman came on stage who was maybe 2 or 3 years older than us and this was definitely no background music to chill out too. Everyone stood up one by one and I vividly remember this guy in his 20s jumping along to Ironic while holding his baby daughter. Everyone smiling at eachother like we just witnessed something new and great and amazing 🙂

Exactly the same for me. I'm 42, and I loved this album as an angry teenager. I listened to it again recently and got chills listening to "Perfect" because I cut off contact with my toxic mother in 2020 and never actually realized how much trauma I had sustained, even into adulthood. I cried. It just hit me in a totally different and new way, because that song totally describes her behavior towards me my entire life up until now.

Me too, I don't think I realized just how much I related with that whole album as a kid even though I loved it and played it over and over. I'm in my 40s now and just cried recently listening to "Perfect" because I'm finally starting to realize and process the abuse from my childhood- only after going no contact with most of my family.

I love that even before you can see her, you can identify her by her movements and her energy. It's so uniquely Alanis. I saw the at home clip during lockdown where she is singing with her daughter and even though everyone loved it, this spark is exactly what was missing. Not only from her, from the entire world. This performance gives me hope we can all get it back.
