I was really looking forward to viewing this climb Alan and it didn't disappoint. Truly spectacular views all the way up. I tried that same ridge a while back but didn't succeed due to the weather. Now that I've seen your video I'm quite glad I didn't succeed......🥴🥴🙈. I'm more than happy to view it from your eyes 👀 🤣. Just stunning. Thanks very much for watching Emma and your great comment, which I really appreciate. It was nice to get out with Eddie again and I loved this route to the top, yes, it's a bit of a challenge and you do need a good head for heights but we both enjoyed it. The safest way up (imo) is from the pub at Scales, which is how I went up last time with my grandson, you have the option of Sharp Edge of the safe way around the tarn, which I took with him. Enjoy the weekend, cheers Alan

Finally 2yrs after saying I will do this mountain, I did it yesterday. On my own with the dog. Weather was perfect, the views were esquisite. It was hard work, I somehow took a shortcut from the FSC car park. Turned out to be nearly vertical but finally got to the Zigzags. Boy am I aching today. To say not long Gi I couldn't do it, boy do I prove myself wrong. Thank you Alan

Beautiful morning for a hike. You were rock climbing on this one! I don't know how trail runners do it. They are in a class of their own. The heather is really pretty, I don't think I have ever seen that before. You had to work to get to the top of this one for sure. That knife's edge looked pretty skinny up there Alan, I bet you were making Mrs Metalman just a wee bit nervous. The clouds coming over the mountain were both mysterious and stunning. What a hike Alan, really enjoyed this one!

Good evening Alan! Wow what a day for Blencathra and Halls Fell, stunning yet steep start to this route, fond memories of our last Lake District holiday back in 2019, a farm cottage at the bottom of Blencathra, we could watch folk going up and down as we recovered from our various outings. Sadly the circle stone at the top had been stolen, good to know its back! ❤⛰👍 It's a great ridge for beginners or people trying to push past path walking, with the option to ride the ride or drop down a bit to a safer, gentler path 🤗 You had some glorious conditions, the weather and heather both looked beautiful, the whispy clouds too 🥰 nothing wrong with a break or four Alan, soak up those inspiring veiws! ❤☕ Ooooh no, cloud alert! Booo, bad cloud, that wasnt in the script although! Shame for that, but it means a good excuse to revisit and bag the veiws, would love to try sharp edge too,cant wait to get back! Thanks for talking us along Alan, look forward to seeing you tackle the other edge, amazing to see so many people out and about too. Have a great weekend, Ceri and Kat ❤👍🤗☕⛰

@@stubloggs6358 - I have had ups and downs on KZbin but Mrs Metalman always gets me back on track by saying "why did you first start your channel? Was it to aplease others or leave a lasting memory for yourself and family". So I always go back to that, I know I could make my channel better by doing certain things but not prepared to do it, just happy doing what I do, if people like it great, if not, I'm not bothered. I always think memory is a great think but as I age memories fade, so it's nice to have something permanent to look back on. Take care Stu and my email address is in every video description. Cheers Alan

Loved that Alan. I’ve never been on Blencathra for some reason. Always see it standing proud on the drive into Keswick. Those fell runners are something else aren’t they? No idea how the descend at that speed on those rocky paths. Love your outlook on life too. Stopping to look back and cherishing every day in the mountains is definitely a great philosophy

Thanks for watching Anthony and a great comment, which I appreciate mate. It's one of my favourite mountains to climb and there are so many different routes you can take up there but funny enough, this is only the first time I have gone form my normal route up from the pub. Really appreciate you watching buddy, cheers Alan

You got that right, we both love an early start and were both up at 04.00 to get there early. That mist seems to be following me lately, same happened yesterday, full sun forecasted and we got pea soup when we arrived. Thanks so much for stopping by, cheers Alan

Absolutely stunning, Alan! The purple of the heather down those slopes! And I couldn't agree more...it's not a race. Better to take your time and soak it all in👍 Not that I'm capable of rushing these days 😁 All the best👍

No, my rushing days are over now too lol. It was such a spectacular view behind us, we sat for ages just enjoying it. Having said that, if we had pushed on, we could have had a clear summit ha! Thanks for watching Des, cheers Alan

Wow Alan, this looked like "the business" as you call it. By the time you were up a couple hundred metres, there was nothing but amazing views. It would have taken me all day to get up there, just from having to constantly stop and stare back behind. I'm such a view sponge when it comes to these climbs. I'm kind of glad we have so many trees here to keep the views out of sight except for a few spots. We've only been watching you for a few months, but had no idea you got into serious climbs, and that climb looked real serious. Got right up into the clouds and everything. 9:12 my heart was in my throat for you... that looked a bit.... narrow. 😵 Lack of views at the top is ok, you got some atmospherics. That was an amazing hike! Only thing missing was the celebratory pint at the end. Totally feel you on the feelings with the crowds. That's been happening all over with COVID. I was reading something on the BBC website the other day about Snowdonia over in Wales getting absolutely swamped with people. Looked like a conga line all the way up in the picture they showed.
@AlanMETALMAN3 жыл бұрын
Narrow was the word, it really did very exposed in parts and just when the mist came over us too, which did not help but we both had a great day and really enjoyed this route to the top, first time up this way for me. I did miss my pint at the bottom, especially as the pub was only 300 yards away but we forgot to was a pubic holiday weekend so the roads were real bust, so we drove back early. Snowdon summit is a nightmare, we did it about 5 years ago and set off climbing at 06.30 and it was still busy at the top when we got there. Appreciate you stopping by, cheers Alan

Excellent video Alan, enjoyed that. At 8:29 I think that's where we were getting lured down, as I didn't see that rocky ridge near the top. See the runner, was that the same chap that fell only 6 minutes short of Jornet's record?
@AlanMETALMAN3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much for watching Robin and pleased that you could see the route on a clear day, instead of the awful weather you got. Yes, that was him and I was at Honistor Pass yesterday, taking to a guy who works there but is also a fell runner and was on about him just missing out on the record and how gutted he was - I knew I should not have stopped him for a chat lol! Take care buddy, cheers Alan

Very interesting Alan, really gave a great account of the ridge up mate, sorry you never got Sharp Edge in. The Tarn looked really clear, so I'm personally disappointed there was no Eddie and Alan synchronised swimming. Bank Holiday... Oh dear, we did it last year, never again. Great Video mate really enjoyed it

Haha, yes maybe just as well with the about of people there but I suppose it was our fault for going over on a Band Holiday weekend. It's a great route up Graham but not for everyone and anyone without a head for heights should really give it a miss. We both enjoyed it and I am sure you would too. Real good of you to watch, appreciate it. Enjoy the weekend, cheers Alan

Now are drones illegal to fly there? That would really annoy me honestly while I was hiking. But it looks like retirements been good for you and you've been doing a lot of hiking lately. You've been putting out back-to-back videos which is good. Looked like an amazing climb. It's always cool to find a different way up the mountain. Have a great weekend Alan!

Thanks very much for watching Eric and no test, no licence (apart from the real big ones), so drones are pretty much buy them and fly the in the UK. It was a real good route to the top but not for anyone who is afraid of heights, cheers Alan
