Heavy snow and below 0 temperatures to celebrate your last day! Spooky stories - I don't know if I would have managed to work there. I have had similar experiences in different locations. Definitely scarier when you are in an empty building alone... The story with your grandson gave me chills! The reflection of the lady was quite a story :D Wow, you did a great amount of walking when working there. I loved the tribute to your favorite people there. Happy retirement Alan, this is a new chapter!

Congratulations my friend! Welcome to the Retired Old Mans Club! Schools can always be creepy in the dark. If I had a buddy that did that I would hook up a light sensor to a speaker at the end of a dark hall with the recording of a child giggling. lol. It's great to have the memories to carry with you of all the good times and especially the little old victorian lady in the computer room.

Right on and it's nice to know we have our own club 😂. One of the male cleaners in the school is on tenterhooks all the time and has seen as well as heard the ghost, so I have had a lot of fun over the years at his expense 😂. Thanks very much for stopping by, cheers Alan

Bloody hell Alan!!! 👻 How on earth am I going to get to sleep tonight? That picture of you without a hat on scared and scared me somewhat. Great film and you’ve got some special memories there. Like you when I first started teaching I was given a bunch of keys (40), and it took me months to know which key opened what. After 25 years I knew every key. Some spooky tales there and the only very strange tale I had was the one at Ben Alder Cottage with the candle. Guess you remember that from the book. Even today people ask me if it was true, and I can honestly say yes it was. That candle moved both nights 🕯Enjoy your retirement Alan and never look back, only forwards. Cheers Mike.

Any large establishments that are normally a throng of people - are so spooky when deserted. I was a holiday rep in a huge hotel in Alcudia, Mallorca - it was chaos - all summer - but at the end of the season when the hotel was empty I had to store some equipment in a cupboard on the top floor - I used the lifts and walked to the other end of the corridor towards the cupboard. I dont know why but all I kept thinking was I was going to meet a young kid come round the corner on a Go-Kart... with a pair of twins looking up saying 'Come and play with us' Not sure if you have seen The Shining, but I don't mind saying I was back out of that hotel quicker than you can say Red Rum!! All the best with your retirement Alan - All that extra time now to hike and edit as much as you like! All the best - Adam

Interesting ghost stories Alan. I do think there are souls wandering about, when I lived at home there was always noises of people walking up the stairs, and windows blowing open for no reason, my mum and dad's house is early 1900's, when my dad was working away in Saudi my mum woke me up one night saying there was a burglar as she heard footsteps on the stairs... I had to investigate nothing in the house or the garden, I looked up to the spare bedroom from the garden and the light came on and the windows burst open!! I was standing there with my mum nobody else in the house. We went back inside and the windows were shut and it was freezing cold. My mum checked out the history of the house and someone shot himself in that bedroom in like 1920. To this day there is a presence in the house and my mum and dad hear and see strange goings on. It's a big house in the sticks it's quite spooky in the dark. I couldn't wait to move out when I was 21... they've sold it now just waiting to move into a downsized properly.

Congratulations on retirement, Alan. Super video as always, capturing lots of memories and a few scary stories too. Perhaps a career in TV story telling awaits you, or maybe just stick to making videos of great walks. I was made redundant in 2013, got 3 months of garden leave but had to go back to the office on the last week. Got nice gifts etc and then made a speech apologising to everyone I had battled with!! Didn't shed a tear until the friday when they came and took my company car away from me - I loved the A6 and I was cut to the bone when that went. Life will be different for you now but I'm sure you'll keep busy and active. Onwards and upwards, the best is yet to come! Regards, Ashley

Happy retirement day Alan. Loved these stories - the reflection of the little old lady made me chuckle! Miss Thornborough tablets! Great idea lol. I expect you will have more time to get out into the hills now? xx

Thank was the plan Julia, when I gave a 'years notice' - who know what was to follow 😖. Hopefully things are looking up at the moment and not be too long till we can all get out and do some proper hiking again. Thank you very much for watching, especially as it was such a long video, cheers Alan

I hope so too, I gave a years notice of retirement and who knew that a year later this Chinese Flu would hit and we would be in lockdown😖. Looks like light at the end of the tunnel now, so hopefully not be too much longer than I can do a proper hiking video again. Real good of you to stop by and I appreciate your good wished, cheers Alan

Congratulations! Wishing a very happy retirement 😊 I had no idea you worked in a school that’s is so wonderful 😊 I love ghost stories! You choose some good creepy music to add to the spookiness of an empty school. I’ve worked in a haunted nursery before and I was in basement on my own when a toy starts going off on it it’s own and it’s one that needs pushed in the right spot to start reacting and then it got real cold! so safe to say I was out of there like a shot!!!! 👻 Lol! Just a spider only a spider or Maybe dust let’s just walk away haha 😆 On an all serious note that looks like a lovely school lol 😊

Certainly different from the norm Alan, still interesting all the same. I used to part of a paranormal team about 10 years ago and although we never saw anything that convinced me of ghosts, I still believe there are things going on that we have test to understand. pseudoscience is just science that has yet to be proven. Lovely video Alan. You have a great retirement. Hopefully just in time for Boris to let us all out to play again! Who knows where the time goes?
