The problem is they've lost the ability to tune speakers. If they released a sequel I have very little confidence it would be as good as the first one. Even the most recent versions that they have made of the motion boom and motion plus seem to have lost the great tuning that they had when they were originally released. That's why it would be very reluctant to buy one on the resale market because you don't know which one you're getting

It boggles my mind that the Motion plus has been out since 2019. It seems like just yesterday I got it (based on your recommendation) on Amazon for 70 bones. Awesome caparison! I'm SOOO happy I picked up the soundcore motion plus recently. It's amazing!! Especially after you tune it. I figured out my own tune, which was a hybrid off of Alan Ross and a couple others I saw on the interweb. I also took your advice Alan, and paired it with my minirig subwoofer for a perfectly well rounded ultimate mini soundsystem sound!! My favorite thing about my Soundcore motion plus is that it's incredibly versatile!! I use it for virtually everything. From a Bike speaker, to an awesome movie/tv speaker (paired with my minirig subwoofer), to a monitor speaker for my dj set up, and any other audio needs one might have honestly. Thanks to the zero lag on the Aux input, I can practice scratching/djing/etc. And no lag (or at least unnoticeable) for youtube/streaming, etc. I can't wait to get a second for some beautiful stereo sound. and I honestly feel like everyone needs one of these in their lives if they need the best swiss army speaker that they can take anywhere in any conditions. But at the end of the day, after you tune it, it sounds magical. I want to hear music on it all the time!! I can't say I've ever felt that way about a bluetooth speaker before, and I've owned a good amount of many of the best over the years. It sounds better than my samsung soundbar too, I always thought that soundbar (with subwoofer) sounded a little boring, albeit cool surround abilities.

The beats uses air pressure in a closed and stranded cabinet, while small passive radiators on other speakers aren't able to push enough air to produce 50hz bass because of lacking surface area, so it's more upperbass tuned. The lack of mids on the beats makes it lose against the flex in my opinion, because with small speakers like that, upper bass will be way more audible than a speaker that tries to produce deep bass.
@alanrossreviewsАй бұрын
not sure i agree 100% on some of that. you tune a passive to fit with the woofer which has to drive it. you can add mass and tune the passive lower but that would be pointless if the woofer is not playing that deep to drive it.
@megakebab1702Ай бұрын
@@alanrossreviews well, yea i kinda agree, the racetrack driver of the beats is able to go lower than the bose woofer, more surface area and thicker surround foam, but bose was aiming towards upper bass and that's what makes it such a popular speaker, it gives the feeling of fullness especially for the size. But the beats having no passives, relies on that air pressure bass that is limiting the movement of the driver at lower volumes until it's drived hard enough to be able to push through and create that air pressure. So they must boost the bass at low volumes and already drive the driver to be able to hear low frequencies at these volumes. I had large sealed speakers in the past, without bass ports, just closed drivers. Those drivers need more power to be able to move, therefore they aren't producing midbass freely as much as ported cabinets. That's my opinion tho.

If one speaker has the option to EQ, ie an extra feature, it's only fair to showcase that to some degree. Maybe with an EQ that's not as extreme as your past ones? I don't know, but the EQ is a game changer especially when it comes to speakers like the Pill and Flex that sacrifice volume for a balances frequency response, as you can essentially do the same with an EQ

I own the Pill, it’s actually a pretty sweet little speaker. It hits surprisingly deep for its size and it’s quite a fun listen, though at higher volumes it tends to sound a bit brighter than I’d like, I can live with that though. Like you mentioned, mids are definitely its weak point, fortunately I can tinker with the bands in Spotifys eq to counter that slightly. I’d say it helps to an extent so I’m not too fussed. What I have noticed however is my unit has a tendency to distort a bit above half volume when playing tracks with a lot of kicking bass. It reminds me of a B&O kind of distortion where the driver almost sounds as though it’s being pushed a little too hard. I haven’t heard others talk about this so I’m not sure if I’ve received a dud or if they all have it to an extent and I’m just being overly picky. The beginning of the song “Let me go OH OH” by SG Lewis really highlights the distortion I’m hearing.

@@lewis02mc im not home so can't try it but ive only heard the standard distortion on this that they all do. A tendency to gurgling when really pushed.
@lewis02mcАй бұрын
@@alanrossreviews The gurgling you talk about seems to be the nature of these smaller speakers, with their tiny drivers and heaps of dsp. They all sound fine at low to mid volumes but as soon as they’re pushed they quickly fall apart and become a compressed mess, the Pill is no different in that regard. What I’m hearing on the Pill that’s concerning me however is the same type of distortion that has plagued some of B&O’s speakers for years, I’ve also heard the same distortion on the Soundcore X600. The best way I can describe it is a sort of “pow pow” effect when listening to tracks with a heavy kick drum. I’m no expert but again, it sounds to me as though the driver is being pushed a little too hard on certain tracks. Trying to figure out if it’s just my unit or if it’s a more widespread thing.
@alanrossreviewsАй бұрын
well on the x600 for sure its the overdrive, the drivers are simply pushed too hard and bottoming out.

The LG phones were perfect for this as they had built-in EQ and the quad dac qnd all of that s***.
@ToniNandoАй бұрын
I've been a V-shaped kinda guy since my early teens (good old times with a puny 3 band EQ in cassette players), but, from your videos alone, I can't enjoy the Beats Pill, it just sounds way too harsh in the treble. And I can't really seem to be able to listen to that deep bass you're talking about, but maybe that's due to KZbin's compression. It saddened me that you don't seem to like the Soundlink Flex that much, anymore. I've bought a HK Luna a few months ago (because it was supposed to be this "small bass monster") and I really liked it, at first, but soon after I noticed mine is L shaped, it seriously lacks in the upper mids and treble (mine sounds nothing like yours in this video, it just has this really nice hefty punch, nothing more). So, not really a fun sound coming out of it. Thus, I decided to go for a Soundlink Flex for 100€ on Prime Day and it's been my favourite portable speaker ever since! I can get the same punch that I get from my Luna (to my ears, at least) with the added bonus of a nice, well rounded treble, no matter what volume I listen to it in (I never go beyond 80'% or so). Funnily enough, I do like the Flip 6, I think what it does is quite nice for it's very small size (though I'd take the Flex or Luna instead, any day) and I was never able to get a satisfying sound out of the Motion+ (I bought it 3 times and returned it to Amazon 3 times, only to compare to other speakers I've kept, instead of it). No matter how much I'd EQ the shit out of it. Instead, I've been a happily owner of a Sony XB33 ever since, to this very day (and because of your videos!), which is a speaker I find to have a much fuller and enjoyable sound, overall, with minimum EQ necessary. Different ears, different tastes, I guess. Anyway, I know you didn't ask for my opinion, I'm just rambling, from one rambling guy to another 😅 I guess different units from the same speaker can sound different to different ears. But you'll always be my go-to guy for portable stereo (or mono, eheh!), Al! [insert manly hug here] Please don't cut your rambling down and please continue to keep yourself in the videos, as you're noway near as robotic and dull as most other reviewers out there (nor bitter, patronising and angry - I'm looking at you, Oluv!), and we genuinely need that 🙏 Sincere thanks for having the time to squeeze another one in for us, Al! Yeah, that's what she said... 😁

you'd hope people would see im keeping it as fair as possible with all of them in default mode and still i think motion plus shows its best value for a balanced sound at the price.
@FlameSpartan100Ай бұрын
@@alanrossreviews I understand, but I still find it essential to add (and not replace) a comparison with the eq.
@ShwetankdhyaniАй бұрын
Its pointless to add a subjective preference to a comparison. A standardized test is best out of the box. Just a note that Motion+ can be EQed is fine.@@FlameSpartan100

Hi Alan, you should get a Sony ult field 1 and if u want tell us what you think. now it's really at a good price (I paid 84€ on Amazon IT) and the sound quality is really fabulous. Best speaker i’ve ever heard for it’s size.

Alan, would you rate the soundcore boost ,with your warm EQ settings over all these speakers?
@alanrossreviews16 күн бұрын
its smaller and cheaper remember. also assuming new ones sound like old ones. it would be best value but motion plus is better for me. again if new ones sound like old ones.

@@alanrossreviews Alan I had a motion plus…don’t know what firmware version, but it was so bass deficient that I liked the boost with your settings better. Could you send me the settings for your motion plus… I saw one for $59 and I’d like to try it again… your recommendations have been spot on with my likings… so thanks for your information

Motion+ destroyed them, it's on different level, she said. I bought mine when you first reviewed it and never looked back. I want to buy Boom 2 Plus just to have a more powerful speaker, I need something little bigger, that's what she said😂 But I'm not so sure now after seeing your review, it sounds muddy.
