Allepey railway station is there. In case if you are planning to take flight. Kochi and Trivandrum are the nearest airports from Alleppey. Nothing to plan for travel if you come outside station or airport you will get prepaid taxi or prepaid auto. They will drop you at boarding point with in 15mins. Dont forget to book boat house, because lot of demand for that. Better book it atleast 3 days before the starting day of your journey............... டிசம்பர் 2019 , நாங்கள் 9 பேர் குடும்ப பயணம் சென்றோம் ...ஆலப்புழை ரயில்வே ஸ்டேஷனில் இறங்கி இரண்டு ருபாய் செலுத்தி ப்ரீ மீட்டர் டாக்ஸி புக் செய்து இரண்டு ஆட்டோக்களில் தலா 150 ருபாய் வீதம் 300 ருபாய் செலுத்தி சுமார் 5 கிலோமீட்டரில் இருக்கும் படத்துறைக்கு சென்றோம் ...3 பெட் ரூம் கொண்ட படகு ரூபாய் 12000 செலுத்தினோம். உண்மையில் அந்த ஒரு நாள் மற்றும் இரவு முழுக்க அருமை . அதே நேரம் அங்கே விற்கும் மீன் நண்டு எல்லாம் கொள்ளை விலை. அங்கேயே கிடைக்கும் மீனுக்கே கிலோ 1500 என விற்பது ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள முடியாது . சேட்டன்கள் எதையும் கவுரவமாக வசூல் செய்வார்கள் ...அவர்களுக்கு நாம் பேரம் பேசி வாங்குவது அறவே பிடிக்காது .. எல்லாம் சரியாக போகும்வரை சிரித்த முகத்தை காட்டுவார்கள் . ஒட்டு மொத்த கேரளா சுற்றுலாக்களில் ஆலப்புழை படகு வீடு நன்றாகவே இருக்கும் . அங்கே தரப்படும் உணவும் அருமை ...மற்றபடி வெளியே சென்று சாப்பிட விரும்பினால் நாக்கு செத்துவிடும் . வ்லோ மட்டமான உப்பு சப்பில்லாத சமையலும் , மோட்டா அரிசி சோறும் கிடைக்கும் . நீண்ட நாள் பயணம் செல்பவர்கள் ஒரு வேளையாச்சும் சமைத்து சாப்பிட வேண்டும் .. அங்கே இயற்கை மட்டுமே அழகு . மற்றபடி அவர்களின் நியாய தர்மம் எல்லாம் அவர்களுக்கு மட்டுமே . சில நிறைகளும் பல குறைகளும் கலவையாக கொண்ட மனிதர்கள் சேட்டன்கள் ...மக்களில் சிலர் மிகவும் வெகுளியாகவும், பலர் மிகவும் தற்பெருமை , வன்மம் கொண்டவர்களாகவும் இருப்பது அங்கே தான் . முக்கியமாக தமிழர்கள் என்றால் ஏதோ ஒரு ஆழ் மனது கோபம் அவர்களிடம் இருப்பதை பார்க்க முடிகிறது .

A very good presentation, thanks.I am from Alleppey,but settled abroad,but visit every year.,Kerala. Some explanations: One Kerala does not like artificially colored and sugared drinks like Pepsi/Coke etc,but instead you coulkd have preferred natual,clean.(Harmless), and better drink, the Tender Coconut water. Drinking water now a days reaches most of the islands in the Back waters,which have mostly saline water entering from Seas during monsoon! In rainy season's last lap some of the backwaters may be having non saline water, as the water is fed from over flowing 28 rivers (which are responsible for floods now a days!). The schools mentioned are there for over 5 decades, and 100 percent people know swimming from childhood. Carved single ore boats are like cycles/scooters for the people. Bigger boats need licence like Motor cars. The bigger boats were actually Cargo Boats, (CHARAKKU VALLAM) and were made of Planks tied together ( KETTU VALLAM) SHIKARA (not CHIKKARA) is a name copied from Kashmir's House Boats in DAAL LAKE. There are Banks/Post offices/shops/Ambulance,Police vehicles,school boats,water b tanker boats, Fishing boats.........! House boats are a development of the last 4-5 decades,most of them just 10-15 year old,newly built as HOUSE boats and not convertred old ones which have all retired!! Just to appreciate efforts.,and not contesting any states.Nandri-Vanakkam/
