Hi Sam, regarding the keypad mapping, if I only have 8 zones on my panel all being used, what do I set the zones to on the keypad? 09 and 10? And then somehow assign this to the panel? Would be great to see a video on this there’s not one anywhere! Thanks great videos!
@pizzaandchipsmate5 жыл бұрын
Hello Keniff, I'm assuming you have a premier 24, but any variant would work. If the panel zones 1-8 are in use, you can assign the keypad zones as 9 and 10 respectively. When you go into your zone set up, set up 9 and 10 as usual/ needed

Hi Alarm Tech, Great video... Is there a way of renaming the name of the company that has fitted the alarm system, which appears on the LED panel in the Premier Elite system?, cheers
@pizzaandchipsmate6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, yes you can. You'll need to enter engineer mode, press 3 for global options, press yes, press 5 for system text, press yes. Scroll down until you find 'Banner message'. Press yes to go in and edit. Press up arrow to go back, reset to delete a character and once done press yes. Then come out the menu by pressing menu a few times, followed by reset and you should have your new default message

Hi Alarm Tech, I had a 'System Alerts' bell tamper active the other day. So I have opened the bell box and looked inside, checked all wires were connected OK and gave it a clean out before closing it up again. The bell sounder rang for 20mins but I couldn't stop it. The bell tamper hasn't gone off since however I cannot clear this from the alarm LED screen. Can you please advise how to clear this message and if I have to go into the bell box again, what I need to type in to let it know i'm about to open it without the alarm going off. Many thanks in advance, Mark
@pizzaandchipsmate6 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, thanks for the question. That problem will occur if the panel doesn't get the negative from the SAB. What you can do is check the cable, but as it's not that important, you can make a link using a core from the 6-8 core cable and put that in 0v and T (bell terminals) this will 'trick' the panel into thinking you're getting the 0v back from the bell. As long as when you do a Bell test the bell works there is no need for concern. If you don't want to do the wiring... From engineers menu, press 3 global options, press yes, press 3 monitor hardware, press yes, press no, move across to Bell tamper and press no to turn it into a star. This will make the panel not look for the bell 0v at all. This should stop the alert from showing. If you still have the message let me know. Sam

@@markhughes6042 Well done Mark, glad you managed to resolve it. Can I ask what you did?
@markhughes60426 жыл бұрын
I went for the control panel override. This wasn't because I couldn't do the wiring, it was just that the bell box is at a crazy height up the gable end of my house, i'm confident no one will tamper with it. Thanks again !!.
@pizzaandchipsmate6 жыл бұрын
@@markhughes6042 Good choice, the link you'd make between the 0v and tamper is at the panel end, but making it inactive is quicker and easier. You're welcome

Hi I have texecom AFG-0001 wired DT PIR's to connect to a 64-W panel, they look the same as in the video so I hoped I was sorted, I moved the jumpers JP3 and JP4 as shown however I read 4.7K across the alarm terminals but across the tamper I get open circuit or closed circuit not the 2.2K I expected, this was without any power on, don't know if it matters , tried the jumper on different pins and still no resistance reading. Any idea why ? or do I put the jumpers back and wire it as a global tamper and NC alarm ?
@pizzaandchipsmate3 жыл бұрын
Are you measuring resistance at the panel or just out the device? I would have it powered up as if no power it will give off bad readings. The jumpers go vertical and from memory you need to miss one, then go second and third on each side
@davefee91233 жыл бұрын
@@pizzaandchipsmateThanks for the help, Test was just at the device, unpacked the sensors to find no info at all so trawled the internet for help, haven't started the install yet, battery not turned up yet, could plug the panel in on the table to provide power then I should get 2.2K on the tamper yes ? and the jumpers go second and third from the bottom, which gave me 4.7K on the alarm pair.
@pizzaandchipsmate3 жыл бұрын
@@davefee9123 Yes, you'll always have 4.7k on alarm if the device is down powered. Silly question, but are you holding the back and front tamper spring down to test the tamper?

@@pizzaandchipsmateJust the 1 spring bottom left of the PIR. Testing without the spring held down the meter shows overload when held down it shows zero. Will plug the panel in later to power up the PIR and see if it makes a difference. Do you think it might?

Hi i have a premier 48 with a faulty texecom pir do i need to access engineee mode to change it or can i just do it with a tamper alarm going off? If i need to access engineer mode mine asks for 'engineer working on ABCD' prior to being able to do anything else? After entering engineer code i get this message and im not sure which areas or what i supposed to key in next...how do i tell panel im working on all areas 'ABCD' please. Thank you in advance
@pizzaandchipsmate3 жыл бұрын
Hi, How do you know the PIR itself is faulty? What's the steps you've taken to come to that conclusion? You *should* enter engineer mode before opening any devices as its likely it will need to be reset afterwards anyway. I haven't encountered that 'Engineer working on ABCD' before, only 'Engineer working on Site'. When you type in the engineer code what happens?
@jonbarrie70023 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the reply. Im assuming the pir is faulty as it will clear and the panel sets....then a short time ,after it goes into alarm. I reset and repeat and again does the same thing. While performing a walk test it shows as open one minute then closed the next. Hence my reason it has an intermittent fault. As for the engineer.....enter 4 digit engineer code then alarm code then it asks for areas? Is it because the panel can opperate with separate areas for alarming? I have seen the alarm engineer put in 'working on areas ABCD...' does seem rather strange as there doesn't seem to be any reference to thks in the installation manual only as you describe in your videos? Mine cannot be the only one?
@pizzaandchipsmate3 жыл бұрын
@@jonbarrie7002Sounds reasonable, at least swapping out would leave you with only cable damage left. Is it wired EOL? Are you doing the walk test through engineer or user menu?
@jonbarrie70023 жыл бұрын
@@pizzaandchipsmate its just wired as a separate zone not end of line. And walk test ive done has just been from user menu not in engineer mode as i arrive at that ABCD area thing lol i dont think cable can be damaged but realise i should really do a continuity resistance check on cables to do it correct. I just thought i might be able to just open pir (enters tamper) change it and then reset? Obviously i cannot drop the 12v doing it this way but would it ma,e that much of a difference so long as i dont blow the internal fuse of the panel?
@pizzaandchipsmate3 жыл бұрын
@@jonbarrie7002 Are you sure that's the correct engineer code? What happens if you just type it in twice? So is it currently wired double pole? (Pair of cores for each tamper and alarm)?

How do you factory reset the panel & get default codes?
@pizzaandchipsmate6 жыл бұрын
To default everything, try downpowering and repower the panel with 'load defaults' pressed or shorted out (either button or pins) you might need to do a kick-start off the battery by connecting the battery and doing the 'kick start' pins/ button. If it doesn't default engineer code the NVM is locked and there isn't an easy way to get round it

Good panel and helpful advice but looks like a poor quality install. Bird's nest wiring and too much bare conductor showing at terminations for starters. Have been in the industry with NACOSS/NSI certification and inspection for over 30 years. Just pointing out these issues, so that those just starting out are aware and can have some pride in their workmanship.
@pizzaandchipsmate5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback David. You are correct in everything you've said, the panel is a shoddy install. I actually installed it a week into starting the job using pre-existing cables which are about 20 years old, daunting task for someone who hadn't used cutters before. Learning everything myself and improving greatly. You'll be happy to know that there hasn't been a single false alarm even with some bare connector hanging out the terminal (probably because I twisted the ends) and seemingly the birds next cables hasn't caused any problems 7 years after it was installed. Again, thank you for your feedback, hopefully your points help out those new to the industry
@davidhawkins14045 жыл бұрын
@@pizzaandchipsmate OK that does explain things. As you say, the issues mentioned do not have any bearing on the reliability of the system. My point was more that once you install a system it is most likely that other engineers will have to work on it some time. Twisting all pairs, labelling up cables, ensuring no bare conductors are all good practice and help others in future maintenance visits. I am now near retirement and wish yourself and those that are just starting out all the best.
@pizzaandchipsmate5 жыл бұрын
@@davidhawkins1404 I completely agree, it is something I have implemented since doing this panel as I was inept at installing. Thanks for your pointers, and I hope new and improving engineers take note
