Alaska Cruise on the Carnival Luminosa May 16-23, 2024

This has been on our bucket list for some time. Flew into Seattle, WA on May 15th, a day before the Luminosa sailed for Alaska. Weather was a little cold in Alaska, but tolerable. Rained in Juneau and some in Skagway, which is to be expected. If you haven't been to Alaska, this is a great way to experience it.

Just returned on the 20th...and must say i was impressed with the food,i have been cruising with Carnival for over 40 years...not enough time in Victoria and the walk to down town can take an hour...weather In Juneau and Skagway was perfect,Ketchikan was cloudy...My biggest problem was Carnival and their wine packages and tried to bait and switch with cheap wines...I ordered 2 five bottle premium package,and made sure and ask if they had The Duckhorn decoy and Kendall Jackson Cabernet in stock,and was told yes..well on the second night at the dinner table,they had one..earlier i went to the dining room was told non was available,so i took a Kendall Jackson Pinot Noir to consume in my cabin...did not like it...on the third night at the dinner table,they said they ran out and went to the Steak House and brought two cheaper wines,i did take one,but next morning i went to customer service desk and asked to speak to the wine manager,and told her i want a full refund,she said she would check to see if she can locate a few bottles....Really? she called my cabin and said she found two bottles and it will be at the dinner table that night.....well all of a sudden at the dinner table,the assistant wine manager came over and informed me they had both wines in stock...I have been in the wine business for over 50 years..Only two wines are worth the $40.00 they charge for each...the rest are inexpensive wines for under $10.00,a huge mark up for Carnival.The two wines i got sells for $20.00-$25.00 at the wine store,not a huge profit for the line....reason they tried...

What equipment did you use for filming? Going on the same cruise tomorrow . Flying to Seattle tonight. Any suggestions? Thank you .

Most of it was shot using a Insta360 X3 camera. Also used my Samsung S21+, and two cameras by DJI - Osmo Pocket 2 and the DJI Action 4 camera (similar to a GoPro). All the editing was done with Cyberlink's PowerDirector 365. Take enough warm clothes. We could have had more layers. At the Tracy Arm Fjord, sign up for the smaller vessel that gets you in close to the glacier. That was a great ride. In Ketchikan, if you intend on eating salmon, do it soon after you get off the ship. We waited too long to eat and could not find a restaurant in time to dine. @@tomross6375 can We Use DJI Mini 4 pro drone while on vessel? .We booked that excursion. Also we booked white pass summit rail and Yukon suspension bridge . I packed 2 rain jackets and 2 pair waterproof hiking shoes 😜 Is there any formal nights I went on few cruises but always to the Caribbean or Mexico. Not sure if in Alaska people dress nicely to the dinners .Thank you

You can bring the drone on the ship, but not launch it on the ship. If you do, it will likely be your last Carnival cruise. Depending on where you fly on land, you should Google it for each port. No flying in State or National parks. Have a great time.

What camera did you use on the overhead shots? Looks like a drone, but I can see that you said no drone was used.
