Ooo! You are going to love it. I suggest watching this video where I give you ideas of what to look for when booking a cruise. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGOvo4Wjg9-Yptksi=eDjvK7M7g-P2YRa3. I personally prefer Holland America or Princess for Alaska because they go to Glacier Bay AND they are more geared for mature adults. If you are looking to bring multi generations (think teenagers), then NCL might be a good choice and they go to Glacier Bay too. AND, not to overwhelm, but Cruiseplum is a great place to start to find what is offered and when. Let me know if you need any help. If you need a travel agent, you might consider Rob. He is a nice guy and very responsive. Here is an interview that I did with him. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f4vFiZybrKlnrc0

Believe it or not, cruising Alaska in April and October can be beautiful. As with any time of the year in Alaska, the weather can be variable. Of course, if you’re a delicate hothouse flower, then don’t go during those seasons. One blessing is that in the spring and fall there are few children on the ship, which can make your cruise so much more enjoyable.

We completed Royal Carrie Alaska cruise leaving and returning to Vancouver. Overall, the scenery, the ship, staff, and food were fabulous. Sadly, we thought all the towns were tacky as most of what was on offer was cheap tourist goods. We completed one excursion, 3 hours of whale watching, which was fair, whereas overall, we thought all the excursions were too expensive.

Sounds like you had a great sailing except for the ports. Alaskan excursions definitely challenge your wallet. We try to intermingle hikes and less expensive options, like taking Lyfts or the city bus to places where that works. I do just love the scenery, the bald eagles, and the fresh air! Cruises from Seattle will include Sitka instead of Skagway/Haines. Lots of history, scenery and EAGLES there, instead of the shops! I love Sitka! I found Vancouver to be more of a hassle than Seattle, but loved the beauty of the Inside Passage. I have done four Holland America cruises, including a one week long extension land tour and one two-week cruise across the Alaska Bay. Each one was beloved and different experience. And if you want adventure minus the luxury… take the Alaska Ferry through the Aleutians or go in the winter during the Iditarod!! My travel partner (husband) is gone now, so I may never go back, but my heart is in Alaska.

Best to give directly, bring $1-2s per tab instead of signing tip on bill b/c 18% is added to room charge. Also, Guest Services do not share Crew Appreciation. Pop drinks not included but ice tea, lemonade, coffee is (not other specialty coffees). Otherwise fantastic food and service. Skagway White Pass train is a must even at $155 usd after watching free 20 min film in museum about Klondike Gold Rush. Ask questions - be informed. Rain, warm clothing is a no brainer. This video is actually useful. Alright so next August into September I booked an 18 land-cruise tour starts in Vancouver and works up through Yukon into Denali for 3 days then we pick up at some point in your video, I think anchorage but I could be wrong. I’ve already booked all of the bucket list items such as heli double glacier landing, getting closer to Hubbard glacier, and it seems that some gold mining activities are included in the Yukon, if not I’ll make it happen. It’s also a Neptune suite in the back of the ship so it looks pretty good. I guess I’m just driving myself crazy trying to figure out the balance of just doing your own thing in Ketchikan like you said, or just every port I’m doing the craziest stuff, bucket list. Most importantly, besides a day where a 5-6 train ride into Denali will take up most of the day, what else should I do there? I’m an adrenaline junkie and in top shape.

I just booked my 31st Alaska cruise. I have to say that you gave a great video for only going once. Most of it was spot on. I've seen more salmon in August and September. Glacier Bay is a must!! If you forget your binoculars, the photo gallery on Princess has the Vortex brand that are very competitive to Amazon. You will probably only see bears from the ship with binoculars. The "Alaska Cruise Companion" book is invaluable for first time cruisers. The whale locations aren't as random as you would think and it increases your chances of seeing them. I'm on the Grand Princess starting May 22 to June 5. I'll be the guy wearing shorts. :) I love your cookie theme!!

Thanks for the video. This is one of the best Alaska videos, I've seen. You just get right to the point - perfect. I apppreciate your tips about clothing - just essentials, which are really needed. In other videos people show so much stuff regarding clothing for Alaska. I'm always thinking, why should I need so much things. I did not wear so much different casual clothes back home in Europe. Why 😮 should I do this on a casual cruise. It's all about combination and wearing things several times. Your tip of wearing a cap with hoddie definitely works, even when it's raining cats and dogs - I know it from my own experience as a golf player in Europe over years. And with just packing essentials I need (none things for just in case), I can fly with carry-on and personal item, 😁 as I have international flight to LAX with short time frame to connecting domestic flight to Seattle. Btw due to my loyalty status with Norwegian I'm lucky, I have free laundry. 🤩 So, I have already booked my 9 day Alaska cruise in October 2024. Okay, it's colder, but - and here it comes - in average of last years in October there are only 4 days of rain. And just to say, I sometimes simply miss colder days since we moved from Europe down to French-Polynesia, so cold temperatures do not bother me. And a comfortable side effect - cruising in Alaska in October is cheaper and less crowded. 😊 Greetings from Moorea (sister island of Tahiti) in French-Polynesia 🌴 🏖 😎 🇵🇫 🇫🇷 🇪🇺

In this video Things We Wish We Would Have Known Before Our Alaskan Excursions kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaiQe41_qM2gf9k I share information about things to do in Ketchikan, Skagway, and Juneau that are free or inexpensive. Tip. In Juneau you can get a Lyft to the Mendenhall glacier for about $45 each way instead of a tour bus or city bus. The city bus is a 5 hour round trip and the tour bus run $80 per person. I do talk about the ports in this video too. Brutally HONEST Review of Our Princess Cruise kzbin.info/www/bejne/boKniHqiqNdpbMk

Wife & I made our first cruise ever in September of 23, we enjoyed it so much we booked another cruise for September 25, on same ship line & ship. (Norwegian Encore) we only had 2 disappointments #1 due to high winds & saftey concerns, the captain elected not to dock in Skagway so we didn't get to travel the white pass. # 2, we took the " totem poles and lighthouse" tour. It was VERY disappointing. All we saw was a " reproduction " totem pole, NOT any of the real original ones. Aside from these minor disappointments it was a WONDERFUL cruise.

I'm glad you enjoyed your cruise overall! It's always a bummer when unexpected events like high winds impact the itinerary. Hopefully, your next cruise will be smooth sailing all the way!

In September we are going on an 11 day round trip cruise with princess out of San Francisco however you didn’t mention that option.

You are so right. I wasn’t thinking outside the 7 day cruise box, but an 11 day out of San Francisco sounds AMAZING! What ship are you sailing on?
@stevelavergne28527 ай бұрын
All one-way Alaska cruises have to have one end at Vancouver. There are no one-way cruises that begin or end in Seattle. Open-loop cruises between 2 US ports must visit a port outside of North America and the Caribbean. It's why most Panama Canal cruises visit Cartagena, Colombia.
@cruisingwithkristie7 ай бұрын
I didn't realize that all one ways go out of Vancouver. So interesting and good to know. I appreciate the fact check. Please keep watching and commenting when I miss that mark. I do my best to bring accurate information every time, but I sure don't know everything! Happy Sailing!

Looks like you were in Glacier Bay today. Lucky lady. We just got home from our repositioning cruise on the celebrity summit. Our first Celebrity cruise and the ship was great! The weather didn’t cooperate though with 50 mph winds and 20 foot swells. I now feel very confident that I don’t get seasick. Enjoy your last few days onboard. 😊. For the most part, your video was very good and informative. However, you were misleading in one area. Princess does have land cruises that start in Anchorage. The land portion can be anywhere from 3 to 7 days. My friend and I are booked for a land cruise this Summer (2024) during July and August. We will be flying to Anchorage 2 days early. Our land portion is 7 days, and we will visit Elias Wrangell National Park, Fairbanks, and Denali. We will travel by bus and railroad. Then, we will board the Royal Princess in Whittier for a 7 day cruise ending in Vancouver, Canada. We will stay several days for sightseeing before flying home. We were able to take advantage of a shore excursion sale, so we saved some money.

I've been pricing and saw the cruisetours too. I thought it would be a good idea for a pretour because we usually get to the departure port city the day before...but like you said-it's super expensive and doesn't include most meals and excursions. Yikes! I thought maybe we would do a cruise starting in Seward so we can have a couple of days and make our own precruise tour.

We love HAL, but the last year their website is screwed up. I get a lot of “oops” screens when trying to book dining or excursions. By the time I get it to work, the better excursions are filled, speciality dining all booked.. Sailing HAL to Hawaii in Jan 2025, and a lot of excursions are off the books or wait listed. Crazy! HAL needs to notify customers when excursions and dining open up for booking. Otherwise you’re checking daily to find out. Thanks for sharing

What a great video - what side of ship was your room-
@cruisingwithkristie5 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching and commenting 0:02 Since we had an inside cabin, it didn’t really make a difference. And with a round trip, the side of the ship isn’t that important since if you doing see it one way, you will on the return. If I were sailing a one way, I’d want to be on the side that views land. 😊
