Another great video. I'll bet landing on the glacier and circling the Alaska landscape was out of this world and topping it off seeing the Northern Lights..awesome. In my 73 years I've never seen the Northern Lights, on my bucket list. Thanks again! Be safe you guys.

Denali from the air was pretty spectacular. I think we got lucky with the northern lights. Out of our two summers working in Alaska we only saw them one time, so we were really happy to catch them on this short trip!

Awesome video. We're going to Alaska in a couple months and this helped me select the tour that would be the best for us.

Thank you for your video. I was booked on a glacier flight but the weather wasn't good enough that day. I did get an amazing flight around the Talkeetna area instead but it was too dangerous to go to Denali - so I loved seeing what I had missed. i loved talkeetna - went to a really interesting talk at the museum by a guy in his late 70's who had been a ranger, and gave a great talk on the history of early climbs of Denali. Love love loved Denali!

Thanks for watching! We agree Talkeetna is a great little town. Tons of character. Kelly and I actually used to work in Alaska (that's where we met) and we have experienced how unpredictable the weather can be. The Majority of the time Denali is covered by clouds, so we were really really lucky to get such good weather for our flight!

Maybe I also need to go watch Northern Exposure after your awesome vlog series. Thanks for the video, really appreciated the information on the airplane as well, even though I am no aviation geek!

We have never watched Northern Exposure either, but our parents were big fans!

Hi guys - Enjoying your Alaska vids! I'm a travel advisor going to Anchorage, Denali, and Fairbanks to do a vendor tour in late May/early June. Your vids are concise, informative, and not kitschy Great drone shots, too. Love the outtakes!. Well done you!

Talkeetna is handsdown my favorite Alaskan smalltown. Its a shame the Roadhouse hasn't reopened since the Pandemic.

I took a flight around Denali in June 2018. The flight was awesome and our pilot opted to skip the glacier landing for safety reasons. OK by me. I understand that if conditions get bad while you are on the glacier, you might just have to stay the night!

We heard that they pack sleeping bags incase you have to stay up there! Crazy

Between the glacier landing flight and the Denali bus tour, which would you choose if you could only do one? We are planning a 10 day trip next summer and trying to decide if we want to drive all the way to Denali or just do the flight out of Talkeetna and spent more time exploring Seward, Homer, Whittier, Talkeetna and Girdwood. We are renting an RV.

They have 4 different types of flights. Which did you choose? And why did you pick that one? We are going next summer. We are not sure if we want to do either of the two middle length flights. TIA.

How come you didn’t stay at the hotel at the glacier? LOL 😂 You had a stellar day like I did….I also got a secret free upgrade to the longest tour as they didn’t have enough people for the shorter one!!! An upgrade I could clearly not refuse!! (Secret as they took me aside so the paying folk didn’t know).
@TheAwkwardTourists3 жыл бұрын
Nice! You scored with that upgrade. We had some friends who stayed in that lodge on the Glacier. That would be awesome. Next time!

It was the last day of August, so pretty much September. We got lucky with really really good weather on our flight, It's best to plan for all types of weather in Alaska, Even in summer. It snowed the day after we left Juneau. (first week of september)

NEVER SKIMP ON GLACIER FLIGHTS! Whether back in May 2001, when I got the sweet pack (shoulder season) for $350, or in 2010, when I got the sweet pack for $500, it was TOTALLY WORTH IT! I am a life long Alaskan. I even rolled my eyes at the flightseeing trips. I had taken a boat, gone one a hike, so many things that meant I didn't need to "pay like a tourist" to fly up there and "walk on a glacier". I WAS SO WRONG. We got a "shoulder season" deal in 2001 and returned entirely different Alaskans. Later I insisted, on a good weathers day, that a friend from England spend $500 on the "full" flight, plus glacier land. Seeing the full area, a thousand precipices, a thousand cliffs, only gives more meaning to the glacier landing, a thousand-fold. You will never see our planet the same way again. If you can afford it, take both, and let us know if you agree with me. You guys are still great! Love your meet story!
