Thanks. I still have over 60 unedited hunts dating back to 2014. Most of the hunts I have produced are only on DVD. Will continue slowly release older content on YT. Cheers, Billy

Being an alaska resident I Love my Barneys back for all sorts of adventures. I am have to get a stone glacier for mountain goat/sheep hunting since the fit is better for my small frame.. Just love how bomb proof the Barneys pack is... Always good to have tools in the tool box :) Excellent informative vids by the way!!

Maybe I missed it but I didn't hear a price on the stone glacier pack. I too like minimalist gear. Thanks for the info. I very much enjoy your ministry as well. It connects on a different level for me, it's refreshing to hear your"real" point of view that comes straight from the word. God bless you and your family. You are making an impact... I'm going to share your stuff with my son and son in law as well. Happy new year my friend!

I used a Barney’s pack for several hunts including goat hunts. It is great for carrying heavy loads and it is durable. But it is also heavy empty and it is very loud; at least mine was. It would jingle and jangle like a set of sleigh bells when I walked. And the canvas on mine was so tight that it squeaked every time I moved. So every step I took was “jingle-squeak’”. Taping the zipper pulls helped the jingle, but I never solved the squeak issue. The bag is designed to come off the frame simply by pulling some pins, but the fabric is so tight that getting it back onto the frame again is impossible in the field; at least mine was. I needed screwdrivers and pliers to get the bag back onto all the tabs after taking it off once. And that was the last time I took the bag off, it was so difficult to get back on! I also found the lack of pockets inconvenient. If you need to haul heavy loads, it is excellent for that purpose. But for general hunting and occasional meat packing, I prefer a lighter, more versatile pack. I sold my Barney’s pack and am looking for something else. My two bits.

I was looking for a moose hunting pack few years ago for a diy moose hunt out of Tok and was gonna get the Barney pack but my super cub transporter frowned and talked me out of it. I then bought that same SG pack and sold it cause i was constantly confused by it with all the straps and load shelf. Just wasn't very happy so sold that and bought that same Kuiu 7800 pack you have, absolutely love the pack used it on my moose hunt on two deboned moose in two days from me & my friend. Although it worked on the deboned moose I think on bone in meat full quarters I would get that Barney pack. I just cant imagine a full quarter in that Kuiu bag me and my friend had a hell of a time just moving the quarters to debone. Thank you for all your videos I look so forward to them!!!

Hey billy, I rock with kuiu gear. I got the 2300 pack (for small local hunts) and plus im an inexperienced hunter but my uncle is a guide here in Newfoundland and he loves the kuiu 4000 pack. Loved the review of your kuiu pack. Cheers my friend

Love your stuff but personally I would never travel into the backcountry with any pack but a Kifaru! The Gun Bearer is the ultimate rifle attachment system too!
@akrainforest2 жыл бұрын
I'll 2nd the Kifaru Gun Bearer. I have been using them for more than 20 years in Alaska (where I live). I have been hunting (& guided 10 years) in Alaska for 40+ years and have them on all my hunting packs.
@moderndaymountainman81302 жыл бұрын
Will definitely have to check them out. I have yet to have a hunter with that sling system.

The gun bearer is awesome and I have used mine a lot. I do not like the stone glacier gun sling even though I run their pack. God stuff and thanks!
@prestont5769 Жыл бұрын
The sling system makes your gun the quickest accessible that I’ve used. I run the tactical frame for packing out huge loads of antler. It’s capable of more than I can carry (130+ lbs.). I only run a lid w the frame and throw camp in a big dry bag if I’m backpacking. Their bags are not as light as kuiu and stone. I don’t like any bag aside from my lid anyway. Keeps me ultra light. 👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks Billy!

If you were picking one of the 3 to solo hunt up here as a do all pack for goats to bear and didnt plan on ever shooting a moose more than 100 yards from a raft which one would you go with?

Was given a pack from a bigger guy. Once loaded down I now prefer a bigger pack. Definitely weight on the lower back keeps ya going.

Bought a mystery ranch pop up for whitetail hunting but was looking at kuiu. Happy with my choice but no one or no where to look at kuiu. Maybe when I head out west I'll try a kuiu. Thanks for comparing packs. Alot of times you're buying site unseen and just going off reviews. I trust your review over some wanna be. Do a review on trekking poles and boots.

@moderndaymountainman81302 жыл бұрын
Never tried them. Heard good things but never heard of anybody using them for heavy loads in Alaska.
@prestont5769 Жыл бұрын
They’re tough durable packs. But they’re just way too heavy. Waist belts and straps are my least favorite.
