We're building an off-grid homestead in Alaska. We live in a dry cabin which means no running water. Yikes! We are trying to live a self-sufficient lifestyle. Today, we making progress on the skid shelter.

Me thinks the head chef needs to make EXTRA cookie dough next time, so when the handsome hired help says he needs cookies she can pop a few frozen dough balls in the oven. BA-BAH!!! Happy hired help!! ❤😎❤ That shelter is lookin' good! It was a nail biter from this side of the camera a couple times... but as soon as Mr Reeve STOPPED kneeling both knees on the same 2- by, WITHOUT CRASHING, the nails got a reprieve! BTW... It IS... IMITATION is the most sincere form of flattery. I had to google it, but I think thats what you guys said anyway. THAT MEANS... go have cookies & a nap! (Then tacos😊)

I’ll have to hide the cookie dough in a frozen spinach box in the freezer. Otherwise, it’ll disappear like magic. Ha!

I’ll put it on the list. Ha! Mr. Reeve is quite the flatterer when he talks about my cooking. But, I think the reality of it is that he’s just not that picky. 😊

The dogs nap all day. What a life. Ha! They are up all night keeping the Moose and a pesky fox back from the animals, so I guess they deserve it. Ha! Actually, those guys work extremely hard. Be blessed, sweet Val.

I think those portable shelters are a good idea. Multi use. Honey, cookies. He just blew her mind. Self baking cookies. Nothing's like Chrystal's cooking. Sell them to the military...🤣 Get a pink hammer. I wish I could find someone that I can get along with like you two. I've been told that I'm too independent. Men want a woman that needs taken care of. Oh, poo. Lol. Cooper is attractive, and stinky. Clickety clack, don't talk back. She is cute, protecting your glove. Dunk while still on the ground. Sacrifice your body. That sounded kinky. You could probably smell Cooper a mile away. Fancy move. He could have been a baton twirler. Taco night at the neighbors. Teddy sounded mean. Nap time, after a cookie. He deserves it! Come on Chrystal. Cute pigs. Tasty, too. No, not there. It's going there. I'll stop now. If you can't tell, I love your videos, and you two. Stay safe my friends ☺️

Now that’s great to see ! Helping working together. I just got down building a mudroom and still stuff to do of course on it before winter. I been thinking for a few years since startibg out homesteading in MT that maybe I’d move to Alaska after a few years. Well it’s been a few years and now I’m actually starting to think about it One thing I always thought was where would I look since it’s so big and never been there Looks like your all in Willow from one of your other videos so I looked it up kind of. Must be a good area ehh ? Town close by for supplies and things ? Im curious about the area now. Checking Zillow and see a lot of small property’s that seem like future developments? Ten acres would be nice ! Great channel. I need to watch more of your videos!

We’re glad you’re enjoying our channel. Willow is pretty far away from city life for sure. Emergency services are about an hour away, we have a tiny post office and two gas stations, an elementary school. If you can live in Montana, you can live in Alaska. Just imagine that you’re cold days are all squished together without a break for a really long time. The hometown community of the people in Montana is very similar to the hometown community of the people in Alaska. You can totally do it friend.

Do you have predators there to worry about ? Mountain lions and bears ? And wolves ?
@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska
@FlatTireFarmHomesteadingAlaska 10 ай бұрын
Good question friend. In terms of pesky animals. We have a lot of moose that come by, but we just pretty much have to protect our garden from them. They are mostly harmless. There are definitely bears here, and we live very close to a creek that the bears frequent, but the dogs keep most of those types of predators away. And the bears want to be where the food is, which is down by the creek, so that keeps them primarily away from our property. We do have coyotes and foxes, they post the biggest risk to our animals. But because we have the Maremma livestock guardian dogs, they are constantly barking and keeping all of the predators pushed back away from our property. Holly and Juniper are definitely the hardest working animals on our farm. The dogs’ arc nemesis, however are the ravens. The ravens are always trying to get into the animal pens to eat their feed. The dogs are running the ravens off multiple times a day. Maremmas aren’t always the best with aerial predators, but when Juniper was just a puppy, she saw a hawk get in our chicken coop and take out some of our chickens. Ever since then, she’s been very protective and keeping the arial predators away from landing on our property. There are also lots of eagles in our area, but they won’t come down because of the dogs. And there’s lots of natural pray for them to eat. There’s no need for them to scavenge in our animal pens. Thanks for asking. Have a wonderful Sunday evening. 😊
