As a hunter who has never set foot in Alaska, I can only imagine the thrill and challenge of embarking on a DIY moose hunt in the vast Alaskan wilderness. The idea of venturing into an area accessible only by float plane, with the goal of finding a trophy moose with a 50-inch or better requirement, is both daunting and exhilarating. Isaiah and his brother Caleb's adventure epitomizes the essence of true wilderness hunting. In the first part of their journey, Caleb's success in harvesting a 60+ inch bull set a high bar. The anticipation and pressure for Isaiah to match his brother's achievement must have been immense. The close call with bow hunting and the successful rifle shot on a black bear along the beach added layers of excitement and camaraderie to their expedition. It's moments like these that lift the spirits and fuel the determination to keep pushing forward, even when the odds seem stacked against you. As the clock ticked down on the final day, the sighting of a giant bull moose must have felt like a dream. The brothers' ability to strategize and make long shots while the moose stood in the lake showcases their skill and perseverance. The culmination of their efforts with not one, but two 60+ inch Lake Monsters, and a bonus black bear, is nothing short of a hunter's dream come true. This story is a testament to the rewards of hard work, patience, and the unbreakable bond between hunting partners. For anyone considering a moose hunt in Alaska, Isaiah and Caleb's experience serves as an inspiring reminder of what awaits in the untamed wilderness. Thank you for sharing these stories with us.

“Pansies?” I live in AK and am an avid hunter myself! I have 5 daughters and have taught them that hunting and taking an animals life is a privilege! This is totally unethical and what gives hunting a bad reputation. Your ignorance is astounding with your comment of “never hunted to even have the right to form an opinion.” I would dare bet that a majority of guides and hunters agree.
@cooldad895hess85 сағат бұрын
@ you’re certainly allowed to have an opinion. You’re clearly on a very high horse and might come off it where the majority of hunters are. Anyone who’s hunted a lot knows that circumstances aren’t always perfect. Guess you haven’t that much if you think they are. Being from Alaska doesn’t make a lick of difference knowing what hunting entails. I would be willing to bet most guides would agree. 😉

@huntinfool_official2 ай бұрын
As far as ethics are concerned, that is a good rule to hunt by. However, in almost all units of Alaska the law is to make every reasonable effort to retrieve that animal. If you cannot, you can keep hunting. We searched for him the rest of that day and the next, and were unable to track him in the given terrain. If the law stated otherwise we certainly wouldn't continue hunting.
@lukeseymour10182 ай бұрын
@@huntinfool_officialthat is only true in certain units for certain game species. Like if you’re hunting for black bear in certain areas and wound one and can’t find it you can keep hunting, but for the most part here in Alaska if you wound an animal and can’t retrieve it you are tagged out. I would really look into the regulations for where you guys were at cause I’d be shocked if what you said actually applies towards moose

As an avid hunter myself, I fully disagree with your decision to continue hunting after you made a “non-lethal” shot. First, describe “non-lethal.” The animal will most likely die from infection or Just the fact that he’s wounded and will not be able to defend himself from predators. I agree with other comments on here, once you have wounded an animal that is your animal, whether you find it or not! I think you guys are disgusting.
